I recently dug out my old NF7 to bench some Bartons, but i now have the problem, that the FSB is stuck at 100 any changes don't apply in BIOS.

The strange thing is, that all other BIOS settings seem to apply fine multi, RAM divider and timings get saved propperly (even though the board doesn't reboot after the warning screen)

Things i have tried so far:

2 BIOSes on 2 diffrent chips 1x Infrared BIOS and 1x Manta Rays

Raising the FSB in windows --> got up to 117 then crash

multiple BIOS resets, all diffrent RAM channels one old unlocked and a newer locked barton...

Hope someone with socket A experience can help me...

	Hi all,

Since some time I have 2 Abit AN7 boards. Great boards and I can mod the NB voltage and all...

But the Windows XP installation and stability is a horror. While installing I had to make backups of every reboot in the installation process and to come to that point it costs me at least 10-30 tries. I tried several bios versions (modded or not modded), ATA and SATA drives. nothing help, any idea what the problem is?

Note that I also have a dfi, Abit nf7-s (2) and an Epox board working fine with all hardware.

Recently I've bought a few nForce 2 boards for 462 socket (Chaintech 7NJS and three Soltek 75FRN2 boards, some with SATA ports, some with IDE only). I wanted to install Win XP on 7NJS today and I failed hard doing this... I cannot get it working on SATA SSD... after few attemps I found out, that I have to create a RAID array with only 1 drive (FastTrak 376 controller, weirdest thing ever). Ok, now installer sees the drive (with controller drivers added using nLite), but after maybe 2-3 hours copying files during Win XP install, the whole installation is corrupted... I'm using an USB stick with XP.

Is there any confirmed and easy way to install XP on nForce 2 board, preferably on SSD? Maybe sort of IDE->SATA adapter. Looks like IDE is the way to go if you don't want to prepare million of CDs with XP installs. USB install doesn't seem to be working good too, I'm not sure if Soltek's board use it, on Chaintech it works. There are also IDE SSD drives on the market, but I'm not going to spend another ~50 euro on such drive only for testing purposes.

	Thanks,

I overclocked my CPU today at 2.95GHz. The last time I tried more than 2.8GHz i got a blue screen. The only thing that I needed to do was to set the Vcore to 1.5V (1.3625V before). http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=878448

Now, my problem is that I can't go more than 2.95GHz because my CPU need more Vcore. My motherboard (ASUS A8N-SLI DeLuxe) can support up to 1.65V but it allows me only 1.5V.

How can I set more Vcore ?

One of my internal benchmark applications is insta-hard-freezing on Ryzen.

Ryzen 7 1800X

Asus Prime B350M-A (BIOS 0502)

4 x 8GB Corsair CMK32GX4M4A2400C14 @ 2133 MHz

Nothing is overclocked. Everything is stock.

Windows 10 Anniversary Update

When I run the Haswell binary from here: https://github.com/Mysticial/Flops/tree/master/version2/binaries-windows

The entire system usually freezes when it gets to:

Single-Precision - 128-bit FMA3 - Fused Multiply Add:

Sometimes, it will make it past that, but it usually ends up crashing/freezing later on in the test anyway.

For those who don't trust the binary, the program is completely open-sourced in that GitHub repo. If you have Visual Studio installed: Open the project, build the x64 Haswell binary, and run.

For me this always hard freezes the computer:

At all clock speeds.

When running single-threaded, it happens to any core that I pin it to.

The questions that I want to answer are:

Is this specific to my setup? No - Confirmed by multiple other people.

Is this specific to Asus mobos or an immature BIOS? If so, can it be fixed with a later BIOS?

Is this an issue with Windows? The crash does not seem to happen in Linux, but that is with slightly different code due to differing compilers.

Is this a CPU errata? (I hope not - however unlikely it might be.)

---------------------------

Current Testing Status:

All of these are running Windows, and are at stock settings or underclocked.

Confirmed Crashes:

1800X + Asus Prime B350M-A (BIOS 0502)

1700 + Asus Prime B350M-A (BIOS ???)

1700 + Asus Crosshair VI Hero

1700 + Asus Crosshair VI Hero (BIOS 5803) (two sets of memory G.Skill + Kingston - also fails with overvolted SOC)

1800X + Asus Crosshair VI Hero (Windows 7) - Once pass, mostly failures.

Confirmed No-Crash:

none yet

For those interested in the technical details, I'm getting hard freezes for all types of FMAs (128-bit, 256-bit, single and double precision). But for some reason, it only affects this particular benchmark. Other programs (like prime95 and y-cruncher) aren't affected despite using FMAs.

---------------------------

Update 3/16/2017:

As much as I had least expected this to be the case, this appears to have been confirmed as an errata in the AMD Zen processor. In other words, the last bullet on my list (and the most serious). Fortunately, it's one that is fixable with a microcode update and will not result in something catastrophic like a recall or the disabling of features.

To everyone pouring in from the various news sites:

The important part is that a user mode program should not be able to hard freeze the entire system. Because if it can (as is the case here), it makes it possible to perform DOS attacks. IOW, this errata is a security issue.

Don't be fooled by the "Haswell binary". The benchmark is 5 years old and I've largely neglected it for the last 3. So I haven't updated it for Zen yet. Any processor will be able to run any of the binaries if it supports the underlying instruction sets. If it doesn't, the program merely crashes with an, "illegal instruction". Under no circumstances should a user-mode application be able to bring down an entire system.

Can someone help me with my new Am4 System?

My System:

Ryzen 7 1800x

Asus Crosshair VI Hero

G.Skill Trident Z

1200Watt PSU

and a bunch of GPU`s i wana bench

First it all workt out perfect. Installing CPU, MOBO, RAM and all was no Problem.

I installed Win 10 Home Premium,

updated BIOS on the Crosshair to 5704,

benchd some 2d Benches and uploadet them

then i got 10 E-mails (one of your submissions has been blocked) Win 10 not allowed with AMD Ryzen

I was pretty pissed. But ok thats the Rules.

The next Day i tried installing Win 7. And its pretty much impossible.

USB does not work on Win7 so Keyboard and mouse do not work. (i tried all USB 3.0 and 2.0 Ports)

Asus Crosshair does not have any PS2 Port, so i installed Win 7 on a different System. and tried to boot with Ryzen. And what should i say... it doas Not work.

I have seen the guide on anandtech

How To Get Ryzen Working on Windows 7 x64

but it seems to be almost impossible to use the new AMD CPU`s on HWBOT (wich i have been waiting for Years)

I think there are a Lot of Submissions wich have been blocked and i really think there must be an easier way for AMD user to be compatible on HWBOT.

(btw sry 4 bad english)

And yes it is overclockable, not by much, but it would be great if you could help anyway.

Hello!

I've a couple of socket A (socket 462) Athlons, Durons here. As we all know it is easily possible to unlock the multiplier. But is it allowed for hwbot benchmarks? I've some Athlon Thunderbirds which are "factory unlocked" (no lasercut on L1 bridges).

Is it allowed to use non-standard multipliers on "factory unlocked" CPUs?

hey guys,I have successfully OCed my cpu to 2725mhz(260fsb)

My ram is DDR2 800mhz,cpu-z reporting 390mhz(780mhz).I set it to 667 in bios.

FSB:DRAM is currently at CPU:7

With this setup I get Average 40fps in Dirt2,on ultra graphics.

Now the problem!

If I lower my ram to 400 in bios,it will run at around 270 in cpu-z.

Still my cpu is at 2725mhz,but I get Average 30fps in Dirt2????

Can somebody explain how is this possible, why my ram bottlenecks so hard. How do i find the point at where i will clear the bottleneck
