After changing the stock TIM on Ivy Bridge CPUs we saw some impressive improvement for 24/7 setups using air- and watercooling. I could also improve my CPU for wPrime on LN2 and hit the 2nd best score in wPrime32m (meanwhile dropped down to position 3). Source: Thread http://forum.hwbot.org/showthread.php?t=47539 Unfortunately not everybody had the same improvements and also my CPU died few days later on air cooling. Even though I'm not sure whether the TIM change caused the malfunction. After the disappointing results of the TIM change I thought long about realy soldering the IHS back to the CPU like Intel did it in the past. This thread will be my…

RAPTOR3 is the result of over a half year of testing, optimization and development in cooperation with German engineers. We completely revised the structure to create the best GPU pot available. Thin arms allow a very fast cool-down while the structure in the middle reduces temperature ups and downs for the best temperature control. Additional slots at the bottom of the pot dispense the LN2 to all four chambers and reduce the bubbling significantly. A black anodized aluminium plate at the bottom in combination with the nickle-plated copper perfects the design. The new stainless steel mounting system will give you the maximum contact pressure and using the stainle…

Hey guys, I'm in the market for an LN2 pot and I've sort of come to the conclusion that I want to get either the KingPin Dragon F1 Dark Extreme or the Venom 6.66. It's going to be primarily for dry ice cooling but LN2 will be used too. I figured that the Venom would be the best out of the two but I need some advice on it as I'm literally torn between the two. Thanks in advanced!

  4. hi guys, first time for me, running a single stage. it runs perfectly, but coretemp shows positive temperatures in Windows. ..it's more than positive! the evap has minus 50 degrees and the cpu at just 4.5 ghz and 1.26 volts 30 degrees plus through coretemp...this can't be true! the 3960x is pretested by hazzan and can do 5635@1.585! i was able to run 5400 under water...now under ss i have too much problems. coretemp shows positive temps. at 5500 load it shows 60 degrees plus, while the evap has minus 46 degrees! so i think it's a wrong readout...does anyone have that before, too? hazzan said...under 28 degrees minus it's too cold...so if i can believe the evap, I'…

Hi , Dominance was getting a little outdated and with the great mem OC on IVY and soon Haswell, I've made a new memory cooler. Should be available at the new year thru typical channels. Christian has it first and will help me get it just right for you guys. This will be the first "Pro" KPC model of containers. Who better to consult with on this project than one of the best memory OC'rs in the world... Main point of the cooler is to make it as easy as possible to mount and use on dimms with OR without spreaders. Removing spreaders is risky and in most cases not necessary, so this is your solution. Internals follow previous Dominance and I tried as much as possible to do s…

Everybody knows that gemini is a really good cpu pot.BUT I will show what can happen IF you use it under dice or just ice like I did ( ). My pot was insulated with armaflex and insulation tape, managed to ran many ln2 sessions without issues. One day I thought to prepare the system for the next day's dice session. Used some normal ice to test the contact between cpu and pot's base. Everything seemed to be ok but after 10minutes I saw some ml of water on the floor and turned off the pc immediately. Water was from pot of course, but did not care about this to say the truth. The only think which was important for me was the cpu and I removed it. here comes a photo of it:…

So tonight I accidentally bought a couple 160L dewars. I already have a 150, so extra aren't really needed. Was there ever a decision made about if we are allowed, and how we should go about notifying other hwbot members about equipment we have for sale?

We had learned and saw with our own eyes which hard work Nick does with his "magic" on Asrock boards. Nothing strang…

  14. So, I've been breaking my head over the PCIe on/off feature implementations on the various boards. As far as I know, the PCIe on/off switch is implementated on three boards/series: - Rampage III Extreme BE - Evga X58 Classified 4-Way - Evga Classified SR2 - Rampage IV Extreme (and later ROG boards) - ASRock Z77 OC Formula - MSI Z77 Mpower Now, if I understand the ROG marketing about the PCIe debug correctly the purpose of the switches is two-fold: - debug graphics cards - prevent condensation from killing multi-vga setup In very simple terms, there are two parts of the PCIe lane: the first (smallest) part is power, the other is data signal (see image…

Hi all! Long time no see, but it was time to come back for a while. I try to make long story short, so some users won't get annoyed by this thread. I have been gathering these parts long time and doing some pretesting. Then I got opportunity to be home alone 2 weeks and that was my moment of truth. Can I still make it and do I have enough motivation to spend sick amount of time with my setup. I did find some motivation and nice hardware gave me lovely moments I need to say, that benching just for yourself without the need of pleasing someone is really good. I have bought this CPU with my own money and I have bought this memory kit from my friend, …

As Massman requested few days ago I will show here, how I prepare a MATRIX for LN2... First I use an organic rubber to isolate the PCB. This material is easy to release from the VGA, much easier compared to ARMAFLEX... In the next step I heat up the container to arround 50°C for easy application of the GOX, normaly to stripes like shown... ...and then equal out the paste: For backplate I use a 6 mm hard platic coverd with two layers of 3 mm ARMAFLEX: Fixed with springs, needs some space, but works, add some plasticine to isolate: Board is isolated with ARMAFLEX: In addition I add a CORASIR mouse pad (any will wo…
