  1. Thought it was time to start collecting information in one place about this new miracle IC that the OGS guys used to smash the memory frequency WR. There are a bunch of different IC codes for "8Gbit Revision E" and while the characteristics should be broadly similar there's definitely some variance - not sure how much of that is down to binning for kits and how much is down to differences between different Micron models (JEDEC bin, temperature bin, maybe package?). These are found from micron's ic code lookup tool, and model numbers are interpreted with the help of micron's 8Gbit DDR4 datash

  2. Nice one!, I was wondering how 8GB modules OC as I got the 4x16GB kit on the same Micron IC and it can easily pass 4000 17-17-17 at stock air and 1.35V. For sure strong IMC. My best chip hits a wall at ~5300.

  5. Those are 512Mx16 layout (4 chips per rank), AFAIK they're not used in high-performance modules because of less bank groups hurting performance or something. I've made a thread in memory heaven as I think there's a lot of information to go through.

  10. You need capable sticks to do it. I only have 4 b-die kits and only this one can boot up with 4266 12-11-11 1T tight and 4933 14-13-13 It is the same story since sandy bridge and P67..

  19. Sam, Of course I have no idea or solution to provide. The reason I am posting is that I have an Asus Apex VI ( X299 ) - retired for 3 months now - that behaves exactly the same. Lights turn on, other times it boots, other times it boots and shuts down in 5-10 minutes, and other times it does not even start. Tested with 10 different PSU's. Took it to a local electronics lab ( best there is locally ). The guy who owns the lab went nuts for 3 days. Result - NO CLUE. So, I decided ( as Michael did ) to hang it to my wife's Christmas cactus, to remind me that we pay an arm

  22. DDR4 Hynix was only the cherry on the ice cream - I cannot remember any decent ic they made from ddr1 times and afterwards Let´s hope Micron is really back so we another contender to challenge Samsung

Have only 2 PSUs works on both, from 1,25 to 1,45 it is no problem, will test more once i have that heatsink on BTW, might have killed the 2nd one, had it working perfectly, but then i tried to reinstall the original Fujitsu cap, which worked after the 3rd try, but now it doesn't recognize power button, i think the heatcycles might have killed the NB... Initial problem with the 2nd one was shorted capacitor on Vnb if it interrests you EDIT, Board one tested to 1,65V seems back in bussiness, but nb filtering looks like this now EDIT2: The board i mentioned i killed lives again
