  1. whats the maximum safe voltage and power i can use if all i have is the stock cooling system? (can't even change out the stock thermal paste in favor of MX-4 because of a sticker on the screw) also, is 1150 core/1550 mem a good OC for a card that has 980/1100 (i think?) stock? and because iv OCed it is the warranty still good? or am i on my own if things go south?
  2. the temp seems to top out at about 60C at 125.00Mhz BCLK, but i haven't done any testing with prime95 or some other program, just CPUz's "stress CPU" option
  3. im already pushing the Vcore to 1.4V, what is the highest 6 hour stable speed OCers seem to be getting? if you use use air for cooling
  4. what are some error cods that you will see with an unstable OC and what do they mean? like 0x00000019 , 0x00000101 , 0x000000c5 , 0x0000000a il edit this post after i get any more codes system specs: i5-6500, 8GB of ripjaws V RAM, wd blue HDD, gigabyte ga-z170x-gaming 6, evga 750W G2 PSU, MSI r9 380 4 GB graphics card
  5. the microcode being in the BIOS only does match up with that iv seen in the CPU info screen of the BIOS, but how the heck do i enable the non K OCing? flip a dust mote sized switch on the mobo? change settings in some weird and crazy way like im putting in a cheat code for some games? (where you type the code in game, not in a box or field) il dig around in the BIOS setup and see if i can find the magical setting "skylake non K BCLK overclocking" eidt: if at first it doesen't boot past the BIOS, try again, OCed by 25% so far and no problems, going to push it a bit more and see where it throws in the towel with 1.36v VCORE edit 2: oddly enough gibagyte's SIV app seems to be able to read the temp correctly, albeit with a little more fluctuating then it does when not OCed
  6. and it fails to boot past the BIOS as soon as i go over about 102.73Mhz on the base clock.. now i need to figure out how to find out if i have non "non K OCing" microcode on my CPU
  7. any know if theres a non k OC BIOS for the gigabyte ga-z170x-gaming 6? iv tried looking and i can't seem to find one
