I might just have lost bad in the sillicone lottery but I wanted to make sure. The list below represents my system:
CPU: i7 4820k
Mainboard: Gigabyte GA-X79-UP4
CPU Cooler: Kraken X61
RAM: 16GB HyperX Savage 1866
Power supply: Corsair RM1000i
Graphics: Gainward GTX 1080 GLH
I can rather easily overclock the system to 4.2Ghz using an additional 0.080 VCore. Anything above that, however, requires me to go beyond 1.43V on the vcore. That seems ridiculously high, even for Ivy.
I did try setting the LLC to "Extreme" which at least keeps the cvore under load at the same level but it does not help at all with the overclock.
The same is true for the memory. Dialing it down to 1600 does not improve overclocking either.
Sadly this is where my knowledge ends. I would very much like to get this thing to 4.5GHz but I fear that it might be impossible.
Do you have experience with this board? Do I need to tweak other voltages that the vcore? Or am I just out of luck?
