I seem to have gotten it to work on Win 7 by using an older version of Intel chipset and MEI drivers and disabling Windows updates I assume it will be the same on Win 10 as I also moved a drive from a Z270 system and it worked until Windows installed some updates

I did a fresh install of Win 7 on my R6Apex,
Disabled updates
Installed .net 4 or 4.6 not sure
Installed chipset and MEI from my M9Apex
chipset ver. 10.1.1.38
MEI ver. 11.6.0.1026

My scores should be higher, must be some tweak I'm missing, but there you go

Thank that's farther than I got and explains why when I moved a drive from Z270 to X299 and installed drivers it wouldn't work anymore
