Dram settings, settings after all the timings. You can disable memory channels. For example with stick in second slot, disable the first 3 channels.

To continue  on this one. I am using bios 0021 and i see if i do "mode2": it should switch into gear 4 but that does not happen. so what is the trick to get the system over to gear 4. I dont see any settings anywhere for this.

  2. How can we stop the apex z790 from downclocking the CPU to 4800 Mhz under AVX512 runs.  I am using 0022 bios so got the AVX512 active already . To note i am using the 12600K CPU. is there another bios or just a setting. So far i have not been able to with the  AVX offset settings even if i set them to 0.if i set the cores and 0 offset in XTU it will give me higher speed  than 4800 but down clocks 100Mhz always from set core speed also during AVX512 run.

Just gave up on my tachyon z690 which never seem to work on this either except there i can atleast run 5400 in the 5500 limit competition.... sigh....

  3. Have played lots now with the z790 Apex and it works like a charm.. Now for some reason my 2x GTX 590s will not work in the relevant SLI configuration thus recognizing 4x GPUs. I thought it had to do with PCIE lanes but alas  that does not seem to be the issue. I just installed my 12900ks and my 2x GTX590s in my Z690 Tachyon and imagine it works like a charm.

Well my tachyon wont do the same memory speeds as the Z790 Apex thus i would really want to get that working. is there a solution in any bios version? or can we have one.

  4. I notice there is a more than unusual number of subs in the GTX 590 and 2x gtx 590 categories that dont have screen shots in the subs. I was about to mark several but then wondered if there is a database issue on the same. The GTX 590 internally contain 2 GPUs thus when we sub 1 it show s up as 2x. when we ub 2x it shows up as 4X GTX 590 on sub when looked at.

Meanwhile there seems to be a big mix of  2X subs in between all the ones that should be 4X based on the structure. Meanwhile I just noticed that even Benchmate have issue with the physical amount of Cards vs actual GPUS on the card. thus between the strange labelling and no screenshots i was starting to doubt if i should report subs

  5. i personally normally dont do anything inside the socket directly under CPU or on the CPU itself. So far i have not had issues but that is never a guarantee ? Though if i was to do anything it would have been liquid electrical tape. I spoilt too many Mbs with Eraser as it is difficult yo get out once among the  pins.

Dont use nailpolish as it has high potential to crack.  For the vaseline while sticky so a mess to deal with if you use denatured alcohol you can completely disolve it without any visible signs after. (that is if you ever want to get it out.)

Whatever you choose just make sure you do not after going subzero with dry ice or anything leave the CPU in socket once the session is over. it will be important to ensure any after action condensation has a good chance of drying out.

There are more advice and posts on all these matters here on HWbot so look around. nothing is final in terms of process thus no perfect solution. you have to try what works best, carefully ?

  6. I would not put a thermocoupler in the socket through that hole. Just connect it close to the bottom of your Ln2 pot? Like you see on the Kingpin pots. you will need to fully insulate the bottom of the Mothboard under the CPU. Its simply to risky that the components on the CPU get damaged or short circuited. As long as your mounting of the DICE pot is tight and you have relevant thermal compound in between what you will read is very close to what temp is on the surface of CPU.

  7. I am playing around with some GTX580 cards on the Z790 Hero. They cards are PCIE gen2. Even if I use the switch on the Hero to ensure it goes back to Gen3 the Bus interface in both Win8.1 and Win 10 shows up as PCIE x16 1.1 @ x16 1.1  now it should be reporting PCIE X16 2.0 @ X16 2.0 as per all instances i see back in time (other platforms)

Is there a way to fix this?  It is as if the MB is holding back the scores in Heaven, 3d Mark Vantage to mention a few. This even if I run 6Ghz CPU and 7GHz on the ram with tight timings

  8.  I just tried the 0801 bios for the Z790 Hero seems it is messed up seriously for my memory so have to go back to the 0703 from the Asus site.

On the 0703 I can easily run the basic XMP I and II at 6400 Mhz. Even go up to 6800 with the same profile not even adding voltages. I have run a tighter profile with a bit higher voltages fully stabile at 7200 Mhz and can boot up at 7400 Mhz.

On the 0801 Bios i can not even boot a simple XMP profile XMP II nor the XMP asus tweaks even at 6400 with the same ram sticks.

I am using the Kingston Fury Renegades 6400 Mhz 2x 16GB.

  9. Having lived with the new point system now for close to a year I can fully confirm it is much more motivational now to do Subs.. Long gone are the 0.1 pointers that really was... useless....

Having also lived through the change to the full core vs P cores on the Intel platform I can also conclude. Der8auer, you were right hehe:-) It makes perfect sense,

With the scores and points we now achieve it makes it also interesting to go scrounge around for old hardware and mix with new. Like old GPU new platforms and so forth.

The fact that more subs also can take advantage of Benchmate entry for hardware fields is excellent. So overall from my side I dont think I have seen Hwbot ever being as good as it is now.

Thanks to the entire Team for continuing to push the envelope on improvements.

hello , i have some issue with Z690Tachyon /13900k/kingston6400cl32...  after i loaded the memory profile for M-die ( from first post),  board now behave strage , after i shut off the psu from power switch and start sistem again  at boot will not post  and debug display led is off , all led´s on mb  lit , fan spring but no post , after ~ 15 secondss if i pres again power button from MB starts  normally .

i updated again X4b bios and F20 ( from official website) via Q-Flash from bios or via dedicated usb flash back port , but  same issue ..

    what i did wrong ?

I had something similar after playing around with  too much ram settings. cleared cmos disconnected SSD flashed the latest bios from official website. had to redo bios flash twice before i had those bugs out of my Tachyon on a completely clean USB. using single bios option set.
