May 15, 201411 yr Found a way to upgrade the current firmware over USB by an end-user (http://elmorlabs.com/index.php/2014-05-15/all-devices-now-ship-with-upgradable-firmware/). There's no need for hardware changes but the devices already shipped out would need to be upgraded with an Atmel AVR compatible programmer. This will be useful for bug fixing and eventual feature additions. For example I've been contemplating adding an I2C sniffer function in order to help reverse engineering software behavior and increase voltage limits. If you're coming to Computex and want your device upgraded just let me know! Edited May 15, 201411 yr by Massman
May 18, 201411 yr Author Unfortunately not, needs AVR compatible programmer. They're actually not very expensive though: http://www.ebay.com/itm/High-Quality-1PCS-USBasp-USBISP-3-3V-5V-AVR-Programmer-USB-ATMEGA8-New-LW-/221401386529?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item338c8d0e21
May 22, 201411 yr If I purchase one of those AVR programmers, could you detail how I would use it to update? (I'm pretty new to this)
May 22, 201411 yr Author Sure, it's a simple process. I just send you the firmware a long with an update script.
