TASOS
Gigabyte Z97X-SOC Force The good points Nice looking board ! Well equipped !! Theoretically very well build in terms of both hardware and software !!! But ... As a new product , there are some things that perhaps need minor adjustments ? or bios development ? I dont really now , that's why i opened this thread. I run into a few minor problems , and i'm looking for a solution. A. I cant operate the board with a pci vga card. A recent generation of a DX11 HD5450. The vga is a perfectly working card , tested on an other motherboard. Whenever i plug it in , an exclamation appears in device manager (pci to pci bridge) driver. The card doesnt accept any version of AMD drivers (new or old) to be installed. Tried re-installing system drivers , vga drivers , new windows7 os install ... nothing changed. Same result on both pci slot's. B. Tried an other (pci-e this time) HD4350. Tested and perfectly working vga. The system booted the 1st time as a standard vga and after installation of the proposed 13.9 AMD drivers ... BSOD all the way. Tried older version of drivers , nothing changed. Tried the first two pci-e slots. Now i'm working the board with an HD7870 with no problems. For the record , i had the same results-problems using bios version F5 , X04 , F6. Open to suggestions. /
TASOS
Ahhh. Also ... i forgot it earlier. The on-board switches for bclk and multi DONT work.
Christian Ney
I dont know about B but A is clearly a BIOS issue, I had the same behavior on several motherboards I tested with young/early BIOS (most if not all those boards had UEFI bios). Were later fixed with a BIOS update that included the fix (upon request). About the on-board buttons, did you install the OCbut ?
TASOS
About the on-board buttons, did you install the OCbut ? Yes oc button is installed. There is no responce. They dont even light up , when pressed.

TASOS
Should i also write here , about memory overclocking problems ? or should i write them in sin0822 o/c guide thread ??? Well , long story short , is that (at least my efforts) Hynix CFR clocks as expected Samsungs clock a bit lower than usual PSC is a disaster !!! I dont have any access to any of those ready-set memory profiles , so the results are based on my own limited knowledge.
sin0822
did you install intel Management Engine driver?
TASOS
did you install intel Management Engine driver? You cant drive a car without a steering wheel. The answer is yes.
TASOS
Reporting back. Updated bios to F7a beta. O/C buttons working +/- (both full steps and decimal) but the Gear button doesnt light-up when activated. Is that considered ok ?

I would not use the memory profiles as none of them work for me, just set it by hand and be sure to set each channel's settings individually. That's how i do it till now. I'm experimenting my settings on advanced manual mode. I still dont have the memory profiles available , even in F7a beta bios. I dont have a "k" cpu and i suspect that this is the reason why. For the same reason (i think) , i dont have all the straps available , so i'm kind of limited in options , untill the retail k series cpu hit the market. Guest Bullant
Hi,I would also use X04 bios for memory overclocking, gives you a little more freedom on rtl settings and is the one that I think is better suited for PSC at this time Edited June 28, 2014 by Bullant

I have already used it. Still , the best i could do on PSC , was 2400 8-11-7-28 1T. I suspect that is caused , by the lack of straps. I'm on 100 only. You could try this to see if helps you with PSC and X04 bios 2400 8-12-8 save and exit bios,go straight back into bios and it should now say 2400mhz 8-12-8 You now set 2600mhz 8-12-8 save and exit bios, see if this helps you, seems to help if you train 2400mhz first the set 2600mhz What vccin voltage are you using? crustytheclown
Tasos train your memory at 2400 8-12-8 then reboot set mem multi at 2600 with fast boot enable... that should do the trick, Also for me black slots work amazingly good, orange ones not so good... MaJ0r
Read this topic and was surprised by behavior of that board. I would return it back if I were you. Such many problems isn't great for new and expensive board.
TASOS
Tasos train your memory at 2400 8-12-8 then reboot set mem multi at 2600 with fast boot enable...that should do the trick, That's exactly how i do it. But everytime i change the multi to 2600 , it stucks at C0 for a few seconds , then it shuts down and restarts in safe mode. I need to test with a different cpu , i cant think of anything else. Why CFR and samsung are so easy ... and PSC are so strict ?

TASOS
This morning i changed the CPU to an unlocked G3258. Out of nowhere , the preset memory profiles appeared. That's why i didnt have them earlier ? Cause of a non k cpu ?
