Ram recommendation for an Asus Extreme 775 board?

Featured Replies

I've an Asus Rampage Extreme board (775) and I'm just trying to get some ram for it, preferably 8Gb worth so I'm guessing 4 x 2Gb would be ok but wondering what to get?

Any help would be appreciative :)

For benching, the best choice is a 2x2GB pair of Elpida Hypers.

For daily use, Micron D9PFJ-based or Hynix BFR/CFR-based 4GB modules should be best. (Samsungs don't seem to work too well on 775).

At the moment in the other Asus Rampage I have, I've got 4 x 2Gb of some Corsair Dominators 2000Mhz sticks.. I can't get them anywhere near their rated speeds but I gathered that to be because of the 4 slots being used altogether.

It would just be for daily use, so what sort of ram would be fine to pop in there?

I am after some sort of benching ram, but I think I've decided on using my TridentX stuff for that as I'll never be in the top 10 or top 50 so I'm not going to spend lots of money on it :)
