I can't understand how hardware vendors can justify making 184 boring variants and not have the balls to make just 1 board that has high-end PWM components, decent bios and basic amount of features.

Well ... I can. They want overclockers to pay too much for the basic stuff they want.

wtf!!!

QFT!!!

Well, 5.1 or 7.1 it's all doesn't matter much, both are sux in a way of having ac97 codec.

As for PS/2, I think anyone now can afford USB keyboard for 5$, no? It's like complaining about not having ISA or LPT port on new boards. I have few LPT devices, like firmware flashers etc, so what, I should ask vendors to keep LPT for 20 years more, just because 0.0001% of users still have something legacy?

Making statements based on pictures, is like putting a medical diagnose by looking at patient passport photo :D

p.s. I wonder which vendor will first name new board with "somevendor name BEST-BOARD.EVA. edition"

It's not about the USB connection itself, but rather about the sometimes flaky behavior of the USB ports during extreme overclocking sessions. Also, if you are booting in XP and only have a USB keyboard/mouse, it's impossible to do anything if the OS has to reinstall devices as USB drivers are not the first thing it loads. Intel's magnificent boards have had 0x PS/2 for a while now and everytime I have one on my desk I get frustrated because I need to reinstall XP because I can't load an older version.

Your medical diagnose analogy doesn't really fit. Based on a (recent) passport photo I can make the medical diagnose that someone is missing two eyes and therefore will not be suited to be surgeon. Or that someone is missing two legs ...

If some P67 board will be released with OC name on it and all features have been ripped off, it should cost like 70€.

Overclocking is mostly limited by CPU on this platform, so what kind of gains we would get from OC board?

Current boards with price around 100€ can overclock CPU's very well and they have all the features basic user can need.

This board cost around 100€ in Finland: http://hwbot.org/community/submission/2123102_drnip_pifast_core_i7_2600k_13.3_sec

Nooooo....Huge amount of unnecessary features!!! http://www.asus.com/product.aspx?P_ID=oztxS9uaDrwQwO2Y

I hope at least someone will get my point :)

I was going to ask the same question

why are there two P67A-UD7 ?

Me Three! I was just coming to ask Massman why there is two P67A-UD7 boards listed?

This has been since way back, I realized it when I submitted for the Bclk challenge and didn't get a hardware cup for the first spot on UD7, yet I did after later submitting a score for UD4. After that I noticed there was two when looking at all results, and someone else reminded me about it earlier this week.

I'm not asking about the cup cause it's not a biggie, but seeing the list now in full made me realize I should ask you why there is two (P67A-UD7 - GA-P67A-UD7) as it kinda skews other results I'm sure.

Just fixed the P67A-UD7 twin situation.

Here's some figures that might be interesting to y'all:

hwbot-dbase-result.png

Given there are 7 CPU benchmarks applicable to Sandy Bridge that generate points, we can assume that a normal user will submit 7 results on average. 19 results per user is darn impressive! The higher results/user ratio, I guess the 'more faith' one has in his/her setup?

or the harder the mobo is to work with so you submit thinking its the chips best, then try other things ;)
