My initial testing is like follows,

My 7700K (L643G204) gets 1.248v-1.264v max at stock auto BIOS settings for turbo of 45GHz across all cores.

For the exact same settings, just changed multipliers to 47 and then 49 both finished CBR15 without issues.

The ONLY hurdle was 5GHz :(... It BSD'ed :(

BIOS manual voltage of 1.275v finished the run without BSD (uncore untouched)

Still testing, looks like I have an average OC'er.

Now I am testing to undervolt the stock turbo of 4.5GHz, so far 1.120v is doing stable in CBR15 and in 3DMark Firestrike.

I have a 7350k doing 5GHz / 4.5GHz cache CB R15 @1.285v (mOCF). On Asus it does 1,31v.

5.1GHz does 1.36v, 5.2GHz does CB R15 @1.53v.

I find this all very interesting, I sold a 7700k at germany that needed 1,28v on Maximus 8 Extreme 5g cb15 air with BIOS ruined by Asus for KBL, not sure they will ever bother to fix it. Buyer put it on watercooling and used OCF and needed 1,3v. So it is obviously not a classic pattern you can make up, iirc the gene for example was said to be best Skylake board of Asus at cpu voltage, caseking used if for air and LN2 binning...

Sparks,to find vid go in Bios and reset to defaults,after put voltage on manual offset and reboot. The value shown on the cpu voltage is your vid.

I went to stock and read it in HWInfo, is that not the same?

 

Edit: It has a VID listing

Edit 2: After reset bios, Offset mode (Auto):

- CPUz gives 1.136-1.152v while benching.

- HWInfo (VID listing) gives 1.145v

It's not.

This is the only way to find out the correct Vid,in bios with the cpu voltage on offset mode.

This doesn't change,it will be the same value.

Read the value shown in bios.

It's strange,in offset mode it never changed to me on the same motherboard.

On Asrock i know my vid is 1.104,on different motherboards from Asus it will show you different Vid.

5.2ghz 1.32v 94degres (load cores) not tested higher on aio.

5.0 1.4v

5.1 no go on aio

5.0 1.27v

5.1 1.34v 80degres (load cores) not tested higher on aio.

5.0 1.3v

Does it mean anything that my 7700K can happily do 4.5GHz (stock turbo) at 1.120v?

Does that mean it can do 5GHz at not a high voltage(around 1.25v)?

2 questions guys,

1. Isn't a high LLC setting "cheating" in finding the lowest voltage for a CPU? Since it bumps voltage higher than the value set?

2. Does LLC have an effect on CPU voltage if voltage mode set to manual mode?

Well in my opinion its not really a competition, but rather a good way for others to see which batch is worth going for.

Personally I have acheived much lower voltage then initially informed, also I've been able to do the test at ~5450 watercooled, but didnt update on this part.

Board is apex, and cooling is wc custom (dual rad). The vid is 1,12. Will try higher freq soon, just installed yesterday very late.
