Hi there elmor,

Thank you for the amazing work updating this mobo bios! :ws:

In need some advice to get this GSKILL 3200MHz CL14 working at 3200MHz with this mobo.

Im using the 0038 bios (cause GSKILL recomends 2N CR with this ram) with Ryzen 1800x. Max I can get for now is 2666MHz 14-14-14-14-34 without CPU OC.

I really need to get 3200MHz for a photogrammetry process (software is not taking into account the CCX architecture from ryzen).

Any advance config u recomend me to try? :)

(Sorry about the bad english...)

Easiest would be to stay with the 2666 DRAM Ratio and increase reference clock. Or you could try higher DRAM Ratio with 18-16-16-16-35 timings. You can check what others could do here https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1YSZB70P71Kd4iAyxSpAZf0lc2GmyALKJOQ7vA1MhV2s/pub?output=html&widget=true

Clear CMOS, set 111 MHz BCLK Frequency, Save + Exit. Does it work or not? What POST code do you get stuck at?

so i tried already bios 1001, 1002

different vga (now an old gf 7200) in all 3 pcie slots (all tried in gen1-gen2-gen3)

40x100 rfclk dram 3200c12 boot up and working fine so memories and imc can handle it on air

up to bios set 106 rfclk boot up working fine

bios set 107 rfclk posting but cannot even get back to bios, goes black screen and stuck at this postcode

iCvaKup.jpg

bios set 108+ rfclk not even posting, stuck at this postcode

IrIBMyH.jpg

bios set 140+ rfclk not even posting, stuck at this postcode

5jHR72D.jpg

any idea what could be the limitation? maybe not all cpus are capable of high rfclk? bcoz as i said before i cannot even pass ~110 on ln2.

thanks

Or stay 2400 DRAM Ratio thats work for me (2666 no post)

btw thx the info elmor ;) this lead me to succes ;)

Ram:

G.SKILL 16GB Trident Z DDR4 3200MHz CL16 KIT F4-3200C16D-16GTZB

Bios: 1002

BCLK: 133,6

CPU Core ratio: 29,25

3200MHz 16-18-18-18-18-38 1,4V :)

Seems one of the devices connected over PCIE has issues. Try different VGA card, using M.2 drive?

finally i worked it out. very stupid issue. core performance boost was not disabled. refclock goes fine, so i can finetune memories as well :) thanks everyone.

Hi there Elmor,

Since I installed M.2 drive im getting DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE (sometimes). Tested the m.2 drive on Intel pc and its working fine (Samsung 960EVO). Could it be a driver problem? or is something related to the bios?

Probably setup related that is the same SSD I used in the build I posted earlier and it runs into windows with no issues with BCLK all the way up to 148mhz.

4x8GB TridentZ at 3200C14 pretty stable. One set is 3733C17, other one is 3600C17.

Can't go over 3300, maybe the limit of my IMC or hitting the mem hole.

3200 divider doesn't POST at CAS lower than 18 (or 17 set in bios, which is rounded to next even number).

2666 divider is fine with lower CAS, despite tighter subtimings.

Haven't tried lower VDIMM, might run just fine.

Memtest 100%

Blend custom, just 30min, don't want to torture this cpu a lot, since I have only one and plan to bench it on LN2

Test BIOS 0079

Test BIOS with new AGESA 1004a, with a couple of bugfixes. Up to 5% performance increases in specific applications. Also has P-state overclocking working with BCLK increase. If you want to keep C-states, make sure to set Advanced\AMD CBS\Zen Common Options\Global C-state Control = Enabled. There are two new settings under AMD CBS\UMC Common Options\DDR4 Common Options\ you might want to take a look at, Fail_CNT and ProcODT. Fail_CNT decides how many times to retry when DRAM training fails (F9 -> 0d), default is now 1. ProcODT can help improve your DRAM overclocking. There's a setting available also on previous BIOSes under AMD CBS\UMC Common Options\DRAM Memory Mapping named BankGroupSwap. If you have 2x Single-Rank modules you can try setting this to Disabled and you might see some performance boost in certain applications.

Test BIOS 0081

Same as 0079 but has ProcODT default = 53.3 ohm

Test BIOS 0082

Same as 0081 but with a DRAM compability patch for the below part numbers

I did not hit a hole infra but i can say this on dual rank.

At 3390 i was over 1 sec faster in 32m pi then 3420.

Coincidence? Doubt it. I think its a strap or performance related memory hole. Imc was also failing just over 3400

Elmor; more or less which applications or type of applications do benefit from the BIOS update, is it productivity related or gaming related. I'd appreciate the info; I'll update BIOS later on the week, using your 1002 on my Ryzen 5 review OCed. Thanks for all the work!

I flashed 0082 yesterday and performance is good but 99% of my crashes showing "8" on the Q code. in the manual latest online manual it shows "08" as "System Agent initialization after microcode loading".

Is 08 the same as 8? I assume so since the manual has no single digit codes but just wanted to check. Thanks in advance for any assistance!

I can't make any such general statements, you'll have to test yourself. New AGESA from AMD has a few bugfixes, and some improvements for DRAM performance.

Manual is completely wrong regarding Q-codes, blank-8 means the CPU is not operational (for example has crashed due to instability).

did someone tested E-die at Crosshair?
Had 2 × 8 GiByte G.Skill TridentZ F4-3200C16D-16GTZ (dual-ranked) with BIOS 1001 + R7 1700X and wasn't able to achieve DDR4-3200 (air-cooled with up to 1.2 Volt SOC and 1.4 V DIMM IIRC). However even at DDR4-2666/16-16-16-36* the real world performance was on par with single-rank B-Die modules at DDR4-3200/16-16-16-36*, in some cases (7-zip compression) even distinctly superior. I have not tested the new BankGroupSwap option yet, but from my point of view dual-ranked E-die can be a great alternative to single-ranked B-die depending on your setup.

* not squeezed out obviously
