Ney,just to be sure as i think today i will bench my Mars 2,i will submit it to the Gtx 590 category ?

So people can disable sli and bench Mars at gtx285 category and couple with 3rd gtx285 and bench 3x etc? And same for 760 x2? - good decision, very wise..

have you ever seen something like that?

how many people have (or will bench) them?

I don't focus on other vgas, but MARS is a double GTX285, not a GTX295

too slow you say, of course, in this case the vgas are different!

if people doesn't know difference between a MARS (2x285) and a 295 that's no mean there's no difference....

"years people accepted" der8auer`s 3DMark2001 SE score: 182593 marks with a GeForce GTX 285 x2 months ago someone tried to talk about this

last question: do anyone be able to bench a gt200 sli on xp with z170? apart gtx295 or mars there's no way (for what I know and try)

It is so easy I did it last week... no more comment about your expertise

And the problem is not that it is a 200B, this is known for 8 years, also the fact device ID labels it as 295, the problem is people coming after alll the time and complaining for obvious reasons

P.S. Fun result on air - was easier than shooting a sitting duck

websmile`s 3DMark03 score: 116637 marks with a GeForce GTX 260 216SP

I complain for the reason I already explain so, if you want to discuss it with me, ok, it will be done apart

let's talk about 200B, how many people use that MARS in past 8 years?

Will have been enough, 1000 cards were sold, ney can search the database for them, not my job, I see no reason to support a decision that is wrong in my opinion. Maybe you should try to get sli to work, then you can do something productive at least^^

Ney is busy or didn't saw my question, @websmile -> is it ok to submit with mars 2 at gtx 590 category ?

Device ID says it is 295, and years people accepted, until someone was too slow to beat it and complained :)

Wow so I just lost a shitload of money and points. It was okay for almost 10 years. I totally agree with you.

I made even a special ln2 pot for this card to have the hardware points and this guy runs the card on air with the latest CPU on ln2, can't beat the scores, reports to have more points. I have 0 respect for that.

Thanks HWBot for wasting my time. Motivates me much more to bench here....

Roman, nothing against you, but what do you thing about this: GTX285x2 (MARS) and GTX295 are the same vga? same ID, but same gpu, same rops etc? so, same vga or not?

if You think that it's all about hardware points, You're wrong IMHO

I just start that debate because I'd like to participate in the rankings with the community benching same hardware

It's not fair but when they we're released on the market even Asus advertised them as Gtx 295 & Gtx 590 .

Buying a custom version of gpu even nowadays gives you an edge vs reference design so yea,if you have money you will have more points, this was always true.

Look at first places on almost all the leagues, hardware points made from 10-15 xtu subs :)), or 2/3/4 titan X ,to complain about this is no point.

So is the asus 9800gt Ultimate also going to be reclassified as 9800gtx.

If Gpu-z detects the card as 9800gt just let it be.

The same go's for the asus mars.Its a 295.

I had a very long discussion about this, and the madness I got as response is that it is no 9800GT despite device id and marketing as 9800GT because of shaders like 9800GTX and that it is no 9800GTX because of device ID and being marketed as 9800GT... So the decision was it will get its own category which makes the card a unicorn worthless for hwbot 10 years after its release.

I think this has been handled.... not entirely well.

The Asus Ultimate 9800GT: If cards are going to be ranked by spec and not name, where will that end?

All of the cards in the 5700 AGP and 5900 AGP lineups are separated only by MHz

Most of the 6800 series

7800GTX & 512MB, 7900GT & 512MB, 7900GTO, 7900GTX, 7950GT

8800GTX & Ultra

8800GTS 512MB, Galaxy 9600GSO (special version), Asus 9800GT, 9800GTX, 9800GTX+, GTS250 and GTS150 are all the same card.

8800GT (all RAM volumes,) 9800GT, GTS240

GTX280 & GTX285

Crossovers in the GTX460 and 560 categories.....

I am certain that there are ATI/AMD equivalent situations

IMO, Lightning/HOF/Classified/Strix/etc provide a bigger difference in scores Vs reference (Founders) than something like MARS, ARES or Asus Ultimate 9800GT. To me, it just makes binning easier: I buy "this particular card" or I accept tier-2 scores.

What is more difficult? Finding the right card for the best scores or getting the BIOS & software?

I saw a new GPU categry created a couple of years ago so one user could submit one score at factory MHz. Is the next step of human evolution to become invertebrate?

I see a lot of Lightnings, Matrix and special oc cards at your profile, Allen... How about 0,2 points for each of these results? mrburns1rpjvr.jpg

Seriously, this is a difficult topic, my main worry is that we create more unicorn categories no one needs instead of merging especially the same cards only seperated by vram which I do not like. Lots of different opinions on this, that´s the main problem

P.S. I fully agree with your statement regarding these special cards, Kenny, and people hunted these, bought them with knowledge relying on hwbots decisions and rankings. Overturning this now after lots of years (I do not talk about the ares only here, I already trolled too much anyway) will not raise faith in reliability of hwbot decisions.

Edited by websmile

MARS is detected as 295 and not 285. So you tell me it was never a 295? lol

I bought 4 MARS over the years and made my on ln2 pot for it. So this decision cost me probably around 3000 € and weeks of work. Thanks for that after almost 10 years.

Pretty sure such decisions make the bot even more popular
