Today I've been trying to increase my 980Ti 3d mark scores and wanted to check that the LOD tweaks I've been doing are allowed, because 3dmark.com says my results are invalid due to LOD tweaks.

 

Is this result considered ok for HWBOT?

No, it will not even be considered OK for futuremark Hall of fame. LOD is explicitly disallowed for time spy, result has to be valid, only excepetion is graphics driver not approved because this can happen even at official drivers at some cards and igps

My mistake, I thought Time Spy used the same rules as Fire Strike.

I'm trying to understand the HWBOT allowed tweaks for 3d mark (Fire Strike) and I saw LOD as an allowed option - so I wanted to learn exactly what is allowed... ANY tweak to LOD? or is it restricted in any way.

Check the rules for each 3dmark, they are quite precise. Time spy is newest benchmark, on this a lot of stuff is not allowed anymore that was OK in the past on other benches
