[USA] WTB 7700K around $230 shipped

Looking to buy a 7700K for my son's build. He has a G4560 and a decent motherboard and wants to max out its potential. (Well, as far as a stock heatsink will allow.) :D

I'd like to get him interested in overclocking, though I never was very good at it myself.

Any suggestions for a basic air cooler are welcome as well.

Thanks!

Also in case anyone's curious...

Motherboard - MSI Z270-M

If you wanted to get your son into overclocking I'd recommend a nice Maximus VIII board, as they're pretty good with RAM tweaking and bclk overclocking. Also a budget kit of b-die would also do well, because of it's high potential for overclocking.

Thanks for the suggestions!

We got the CPU - the seller is also offering an EVGA AIO Liquid Cooler with 120mm fan for $20 + shipping.

Would you recommend that over the Monoprice air cooler you linked?

I've never done liquid cooling before. I know his case has the holes/grommets for it though. Just unsure about air vs a used AIO liquid...

In my experience 120mm aios are pretty comparable to a smaller air cooler. The cooler you propose should have similar performance to the Hyper 212.

I recommend the monoprice cooler.
