The official HWBOT TEAM CUP 2019 thread

K all,

Hee's how the current design is, open for suggestions (FYI no not open for dual socket platforms) Per Memory spec: 3 stages for 2D and 3 for 3D, plus one bonus round (25 points). For DDR4 no bonus round but an extra GPU stage.

 

 

DDR1: (server cpus allowed)

  • Unigene Basic Heaven: 1 core CPU  (3 scores)
  • 3DM2001: AMD only  (3 scores)
  • 3DM99: Socket 478 & AGP GPU only  (3 scores)
     
  • CB 2003  (3 scores)
  • SuperPI 1M Socket A  (3 scores)
  • Reference frequency  (3 scores)
     
  • DogPILE  WinRAR (999 scores)

 

DDR2: (server cpus allowed)

  • SuperPI32M: AM2 platform only (3 scores)
  • Wprime32 - 3 cores only (unlocking allowed, disabling not) (3 scores)
  • Cinebench R11.5: (3 scores) - per core
     
  • 3DM03 for Geforce 7 series: (3 scores)
  • 3DM Ice Storm : VALID verification link required (not unrecognised CPU or other stuff, only VALID counts) (3 scores)
  • GPUPI 1B (3 scores) Cypress core
     
  • DogPILE 3DM11 PHYSX (999 scores)

 

DDR3:

  • 3DM05 LGA771 & 775 and GeForce series (3 scores)
  • 3DM Ice Storm - Intel IGPU (Sandy/Ivy and Haswell) (3 scores)
  • 3DM11 Entry - AMD only (3 scores)
     
  • LGA1366 triple channel memory frequency (3 scores) (server cpus up to 6 cores allowed)
  • GPUPI v3.3 for AM3: 2  - 4 and 6 core subs (3 scores)
  • CB R15 (3 scores) -LGA1156 (server cpus allowed) - per core
  • DogPILE X265 1080P (999 scores)

 

DDR4: (no server cpus allowed)

  • HWBOT X265 4K - 4 - 6 - 8 score (3 scores) 
  • Geekbench 4 Multi with Benchmate  Dual core (3 scores)
  • CB R20 with Benchmate (3 scores) Max up to 24 cores  - per core
  • Aquamark3  , AMD only (3 scores)
  • 3dmark Port Royal (1 score)  -> max 25 points
  • 3dmark Firestrike integrated Radeon graphics (2 scores) -> max 25 points
  • Superposition 1080P Extreme - no 2000, Titan RTX series (3 scores)

Comments to the right of stages

DDR1: (server cpus allowed)

  • Unigene Basic Heaven: 1 core CPU  (3 scores)  - Should see some interesting combos here, l3014+asrock 775 ddr1 board+rtx 2080ti :P 
  • 3DM2001: AMD only  (3 scores) - So assume this means amd cpus +ati/AMD gpu? Or does it require gpu made after amd acquires ati?
  • 3DM99: Socket 478 & AGP GPU only  (3 scores) - Glad to see an agp stage, this is always a fun challenge
     
  • CB 2003  (3 scores) - I think we know the ideal mobo and cpus for this stage :P 
  • SuperPI 1M Socket A  (3 scores)
  • Reference frequency  (3 scores) - glad to see there will be crazy p4 scores
     
  • DogPILE  WinRAR (999 scores) - will this stage allow multi sub from same person? I feel like it would fit cause it's not like a single person can do this stage either way like you could for some limited sub stages

 

DDR2: (server cpus allowed)

  • Geekbench3 Single core: AM2 platform only (3 scores) - as a fan of am2 thanks bunch!
  • Wprime32 - Odd cores only (unlocking allowed, disabling not) (3 scores) - will this specify that you need each odd core count? (1,3,5) If not it should else it be a different flavor of the no thuban cine stage last year
  • Cinebench R11.5: (3 scores) - to see if yorkfield or thuban wins, but I suspect thuban. Glad to see this stage
     
  • 3DM03 for Geforce 6 series: (3 scores)
  • 3DM Ice Storm : VALID verification link required (not unrecognised CPU or other stuff, only VALID counts) (3 scores)  - ditto to r11.5
  • GPUPI 1B (3 scores) - ditto
     
  • DogPILE 3DM11 PHYSX (999 scores) - ditto to other dogpile stage

Dogpile you can submit all you can per user . Ofcourse if your team mates bench the same chardware, only the best score stays for the ranking

I liked them last time they were included, but RIP your spare time.

I would dump the dogpile stages for just that reason. Interesting the first time but impossible to control.

  • 3DM Ice Storm - Intel IGPU (Sandy/Ivy and Haswell) (3 scores) - big thanks! If we're allowing haswell then maybe broadwell too? If not it makes sense too tbh
  • 3DM11 Entry - AMD only (3 scores) again is ati allowed or only cards after amd buys ati?
     
  • Black Hole Benchmark (3 scores)
  • GPUPI v3.3 for AM3: 2  - 4 and 6 core subs (3 scores)
  • CB R15 (3 scores)
     
  • DogPILE X265 1080P (999 scores) -  can we allow intel server cpus for pre sandy? 

 

DDR4: (no server cpus allowed)

  • HWBOT X265 4K - Dual core (3 scores)  - there's only one cpu that's gonna have hardcore OC for this stage, the rest will be hardcore effi
  • Geekbench 4 Multi with Benchmate 4 - 6 - 8 score (3 scores) 
  • CB R20 with Benchmate (3 scores) no TR and LGA 3647 - so basically just x299? Makes way more sense to allow tr4 and allow max of 16 or 18 cores imho
  • Aquamark3  , AMD only (3 scores) 
  • 3dmark Port Royal (1 score)  -> max 25 points
  • 3dmark Firestrike integrated Radeon graphics (2 scores) -> max 25 points
  • Superposition 1080P Extreme - no 2000 series (3 scores)

Nothing is final yet, we are still open for suggestions, anyway all the CB are per core score calculation, so keep that in mind.

definetaly no Broadwell for IGPU,

R20 could limit to 24C on TR4 and 18C on x299. 

 

The 2970WX is mostly competitive unless a shit sample vs a golden chip.

Would‘ve loved a DDR+DDR2+DDR3+DDR4 max mem freq stage with some platforms blocked out, but as is nothing besides some of the dogpile stages are interesting to me :/

I'd love if DDR3 was with server CPUs but with limit to 6-cores, just for affordability, i can understand that no one wants to include the 1680v2, but lower end 6 core xeons are way cheaper than i7s and basically the same :)

Edit: Allso DDR3 needs 6-core or socket limit, so no one uses z170 board with 8700K or 9900K :P

Hint for the X265 4K Dual Core. Perhaps the locked Skylake i3 / Pentium / etc. with BCLK overclocking and disabled AVX might be faster than almost default with AVX2. But who knows...

So... we need a 1366 stage? :P

I do have one question/comment, anyone know if Black Hole is competition ready?  I've had trouble getting consistent/competitive results but maybe I just suck, I'm happy to accept that (-:

Current scores say no, pretty sure we researched this for previous TC with basically exactly the same stage and it ended up being winning combo was 7350k+7350+another i3, all with 102.95/8 bclk for the locked chips

I've heard blackhole is rng so perhaps not?

Looks nice :)

I'd like to have official confirmation on the matter of using DDR3 Z170 boards though, so i don't waste money on cheesing the system prematurely :P

Z170 was DDR3+DDR4 but almost no-one bothered with the DDR3 option because Intel said you have to use 1.35V DIMMs, so everyone decided if they had to buy new ram to just buy DDR4.  I'm pretty sure it's possible for DDR3 boards with the coffee lake mod to work as well (not 100% sure about 8-core chips).  But yeah someone trying hard enough could get an 8086K to run with DDR3.

AFAIK no-one made Z270 DDR3 boards but Kaby does still have the DDR3 controller.

switched it for Geek Dual core and 2-4-6 X265

Nope there are a couple ddr3 boards.

@mickulty I mean I would be all up for that, but also for 1156 anything (hasn’t been in TC since at least 2014 if not longer) or memory frequency. Right now 1156 is irrelevant besides dogpile stage but even then little point running that cold...

LOL that would be stupid but I would be all up in arms for that :D or better - Am3+ 4 dimm, 1156 4 dimm and 1366 6 dimm max mem freq?
