yosarianilives 365 Posted November 15, 2020 Share Posted November 15, 2020 Not sure if this has been asked before or not, but I think a lot of times when server hw is benched its in a vm on a server. Is it allowed to bench in a vm if windows is still used? Not sure how easy it would be to tell but I bet if you go through results on bigger server hw at least some of it is done on a vm Quote Link to post Share on other sites
_mat_ 523 Posted November 15, 2020 Share Posted November 15, 2020 A VM/hypervisor can emulate all register calls. So the concept of CPU models or actually any reference to real hardware is lost. Also time can be skewed freely. Therefore I chose to disallow VMs for BenchMate. Quote Link to post Share on other sites
