Looking for advice on hardware for emulation

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

I’ve been learning more about PC hardware and how CPU and GPU performance can affect different workloads. Recently, I’ve also been experimenting with older console emulation and trying to understand which hardware upgrades actually make the biggest difference.

For example, I’m particularly interested in PS2 emulation and how processor performance, graphics settings, and memory affect stability and game compatibility. I also maintain a small resource at https://ps2biosonline.com/ where I collect information about PS2 BIOS and emulation.

For those with experience testing hardware, what would you consider the most important component to upgrade first when building a PC mainly for emulation? I’d be interested to hear about real-world experiences rather than just benchmark numbers.
