Massman Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 (edited) I wonder about the line that comes in every single PR. For some reason, every single company claims to be the world leading in whatever they produce. Not every brand can be leading, so this is nothing more than a lie, right? Or how do the marketing people justify writing this? I mean ... if you start off your message with a big fat lie, how can you expect people to take your message seriously? Example of GTX560 PR: - "Palit Microsystems Ltd, the leading graphics card manufacturer ..." - "Elitegroup Computer Systems (ECS), the world’s leading motherboard, graphics card, barebone system, and notebook manufacturer ..." - "ZOTAC International, a leading innovator and the world’s largest channel manufacturer of graphics cards, motherboards and mini-PCs ..." - "SPARKLE Computer Co., Ltd., the professional VGA card manufacturer and supplier ..." - "KFA2, the European premium NVIDIA only brand ..." - "As the leading brand in enthusiastic graphics cards, Gainward ..." - "GIGABYTE Technology Co. LTD., a leading manufacturer of motherboards and graphics cards ..." - "Point of View, the leading European manufacturer of an exclusive range of NVIDIA based 3D processor boards, advanced netbooks as well as fancy 7” and 10” Tegra tablet computers, and additional enthusiast PC products ..." K404 Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 In the list of examples, Gigabyte and Zotac win. "A leading" is totally different to "THE leading" A implies AMONGST the best, THE implies THE best.... What i'd love to see is: "xxx, a pretty good manufacturer of....." Quote
Massman Posted May 19, 2011 Author Posted May 19, 2011 But, they can't all be "a leading" manufacturer, right? I mean, it doesn't even make sense logically: if everyone is leading, then there are no followers. So technically, no one is leading anyone. Quote
BenchZowner Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 What's worse... "the leading company" or "the GeForce 8200SE 1GB fantastic graphics card for hardcore gamers?" designed by gamers for gamers, and.... ho ho ho... approved by Fatal1ty ? Quote
K404 Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 Slightly different definition of "leading" You are being a little too literal Quote
