l0ud_sil3nc3
What would be causing the card to be stuck in x16 1.1 mode?
elmor
What would be causing the card to be stuck in x16 1.1 mode? Could be power saving mode? If you launch 3d application does it still stay at x16 1.1?
Eeky NoX
Sure disable it in catalyst Loud, or that strange ULPS thingy again?
l0ud_sil3nc3
Render test in gpuz stays at 1.1.
Eeky NoX
Maybe just bad reading of GPU-Z ...regarding fresh new specific drivers of the card.
l0ud_sil3nc3
Maybe just bad reading of GPU-Z ...regarding fresh new specific drivers of the card. dude so much fail going on over atm. I am thinking it has something to do with bclk, because when I switch it from 105.3 to 100 it shows up as x 3.0. so weird, so I decided to flash a different bios and it hangs in the middle, recovering as we speak lol
Eeky NoX
Who the hell can say it runs fine and smooth for those qualifiers? Hope won't be too painfull this week end... dammit! IT RAINS!!!! -.-
l0ud_sil3nc3
So when I set 102.1x49 all is well PCI x3.0 works but even when trying to raise bclk in Windows or in the bios even at 104.2 causes gpuz to read it as x 1.1. Tried two a few different bios to confirm this behavior.
sin0822
ATI pci-e 3.0 and BCLK, always fun.

l0ud_sil3nc3
Guys in which way you program increase the voltage on chip? No way to increase voltage through software, at least not without an Asus bios.
Neyasit
It's allow to firmware Asus bios to MSI card and use it for MOA?))) Or it's cheating))

On the 7970 it's usually hit and miss with bclk over 103MHz - sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Can you fix pcie to gen2 qnd use that instead? Doubt the card needs gen3 anyway
Neyasit
Massman, maby you can tell abou writing ASUS bios into MSI card, and use it on MOA?

CL3P20
...Would be nice to see DS to work mods for OCP, OVP and RT.. anyone care to post a snippet? I will post resistance and mod points once confirmed.
CL3P20
GPUv confirmed on NCP flavor as well.. same pinout, just different packaging/rev#. *Need ILIM and RT *Need functional cold-slow now too!
elmor
GPUv confirmed on NCP flavor as well.. same pinout, just different packaging/rev#. *Need ILIM and RT *Need functional cold-slow now too! NCP/PCP is the same yes. ILIM is pin #46, resistance between this pin and pin #44 sets OCP threshold. Higher resistance = higher OCP limit. Essentially need to remove the resistor connecting these two pins and replace with higher valued one. Could probably leave there resistor removed to completely disable OCP. The test bios for cold slow fix didn't work, still looking into it. Sorry but what do you mean by RT?
CL3P20
RT = switching frequency *will test and post some resistances and volt levels with ocp mod. A few caps seem to be helping. L0ud posted some good results with the card so far. Thanks for the info
icebob
weird thing, did mod, everything works fine, 1420x1750 thru 11 no prob, rebooted, now afb won't let me clock higher than 1365... uninstalled, reinstalled, still stuck there...

Massman
No solution yet. We know the issue, but not sure how to fix it.
