  1. I thought it was very obvious from the CPUz screenshot that it was an ES. But thanks for the suggestion. I will add it to my comments. In future please just don't say 'fake'. It helps no one, especially new guys on the low end of the hardware spectrum like me. If it is not what it seems and you are an experienced user, you should try to help solve the problem.

Honestly, I could personally care less about seriously competing. I do this for fun and put up a couple of boints for my team.

I am working with some members on notebookreview forums trying to figure out what is going on. So far, we have sort of figured out that it is NOT an i3 because turbo seems to work with Prime95 FFT affinity set to one core. More so, this runs at a multi of 19 when turbo enabled, just like the i5 430m. Still investigating, but hell at least I am trying....

  2. It is a fake , it is not core i5 430m

You must be joking right? What do you want me to show? Put up a few benches and immediately somebody calls you a cheat. Dunno if I should be amused or just disappointed...

If you think it is a fake, wait for the review of the MSI Whitebook MS-I156-ID1 (same as the GX640) on overclockers.com. I have pictures of the unit disassembled and you can check out the CPU.

Overclocking was done via software as there are no BIOS options to facilitate overclocking. I used SetFSB and the PLL is ICS9LPRS112AKLF. Go search on google and you will find tons of people doing better than I have. ;)

    Edit#

    -----

Anybody and their brother with this CPU can probably beat the crap out of this score with software tweaks. ;)

    Edit#2

    --------

Bench team members on OCForums pointed out that CPUz could be wrong and this might be some weird hybrid CPU. Honestly, IDK WTF is going on. Maybe somebody can help me out if I post pics of the CPU?

  3. How about a super noobs league for guys like me chugging along on just a laptop, or somebody with super old hardware, benching on stock cooling? The noob league should be such that all all scores count for something. Clearly regular guys cannot compete with the top people and perhaps something to encourage the conversion of enthusiasts to hwbotters can be attempted. I like to bench and help my team out, but cannot afford to buy new hardware. My exotic cooling strategy would be to open the windows...

The existing system does allow for checking your scores against those with similar CPUs/GPUs, but it is kind of disappointing to see 0.0 after a submission. Don't get me wrong, I'm perfectly happy just to see a submission go through as long as the team gets something. I neither have the skills nor the hardware to be on top of anything. ;)

  4. I don't think disallowing ES hardware will solve anything. Just because you have an ES does not mean your hardware is significantly better than a non-ES. If people are going through the trouble of spending time and money cherry picking parts (a lot of painful effort!), more power to them. Bench with what you have and have fun!
