Sarrdai
Hey guys. I'm a newbie in OC and I currently build up my first pc. Shame on me, but I wonder if you could tell me what settings I have to choose for my non-k i5 6500 to optimize it's performance. I don't want to use the custom BIOS for overclocking. At least for now. First I rather go step by step as I learn how my components work together. It would be great if you oc-gods could come down from your thrones to help me with your guidance. I have a ASUS Z170 Pro Gaming, a Thermaltake Water 3.0 Performer Cooler (should be enough), 4x4Gb Corsair Vengeance LPX 2800MHz and, of course, my Tray i5 6500. Thanks! Guest TheMadDutchDude
You will need a BIOS with the non-K OC support in order to push it. They aren't risky and ASUS have a flashback feature which has saved me once (only ever needed it once) if things go pear shaped. There's a website that Roman (der8auer) has uploaded a lot of the non-K BIOS files to. Check it out here: Socket 1151 Skylake Non-K OC Archives - Overclocking.Guide
Eagle_i_am
They aren't risky and ASUS have a flashback feature I was looking on asus website about that feasure and did not find a word about flashback feature on 1151 motherboards. Have you tried yourself to use it on 1151's?
