  1. My teammates corrected me, and I just reread this thread and realize that alternative browsers are still not allowed per the rules/statements made by Massman.

I'm not worried about which way the rules go - I'll do whatever the rules say we can do. Right now the rules say IE only, but it seems suspicious the highest score ever in pcmark05 has a web rendering score 10-20 pages/s higher than anyone else:

Youngpro demonstrated how to hit 60 in web page rendering here, by using a different web browser:

  2. So I was informed the web page rendering tweak is using chrome, and its permitted now - the rules didn't seem clear on this in my reading I thought IE was only permitted.

Chrome is my default browser, and PCMark05 won't launch anything other than IE. Tried replaceing the folder and renaming chrome to iexplore.exe, but then the web page rendering test just fails. My google-fu is failing me, so if anyone wants to share a tip that would be great.

  3. I think there is a bigger problem now. :)

With the speed and frequency with which they are posting, these are clearly automated attacks - probably been manually configured to navigate the registration system, then set to auto-spam. Looks like the work of xrumers.

  4. Pro league was/is a great idea, it needs to continue for those that don't have to pay for h/w. ES is a different issue but probably needs to stay in pro league when it is new or current state of the art. Christian mentioned recently - is this true for all ES? - ES in the non-pro leagues is ok provided it is not current/latest product - I think this is a good idea.

I agree about pro league. Not sure about ES.

ES isn't supposed to be sold according to manufacturers. Which makes its availability to non-pro participants rather limited to those willing to sell or buy things which aren't technically supposed to be sold (not sure of legalities). Through my site, I have friends with ES that I could procure easily, but I do not because most people would have a hard time getting their hands on them due to limited availability, and for me it would be a serious ethical issue unless I go to the pro league.

I don't know why it would be a good idea to allow ES chips in non-pro at all. It could be a considerable advantage to insiders, or those who are friends with insiders - outside of them, only a scarce few people have occasional opportunities to purchase ES.

  5. Thanks guys.

Ya, AMD 32M record on BD will never happen. Only Thuban to beat this score was Chew's 1st place Thuban, and I could probably beat that as I only need 3 more seconds - but BD cannot touch Deneb in 32M... It won't break 10 minutes. However, no one even bothers running 32M on BD so I don't know if I'll work on this score any further. Cool to run 32M at 7.7GHz, but not worth any points - one evening and 20L of LN2 is about all the time I can see putting into it. This score could still be improved though. I haven't tweaked subtimings or confirmed the limits of the RAM, and they are sticks I haven't ran before.

Only reason this beat my 6.6GHz 965BE score was because I got better ram:

  6. Thanks guys.

I did not change teams - kinda hard when I run Overclockers to bench for anyone else. :D However Miahallen changed from IronMods to to OC Forums 6 months ago or more - not sure how that may play a part. However, Bobnova also has a submission that beats mine, and both he and I have been on the team forever. It seems his score should have precluded mine from having points also.

  7. I guess I'll mention my CPUz submission now also. It is ranked 4th globally in member ranks, however it says its 5th globally on team ranks:

    http://hwbot.org/submission/2225833_i.m.o.g._cpu_frequency_fx_8120_8235.25_mhz

However when viewing member or team rankings for CPUz, it is shown as 4th for both. I don't know if this affects points at all, however I just thought I'd mention that also as it seems a bit weird.

  8. I don't have that many submissions, so I stumbled across my 4890 aquamark score. It is getting GTPP however it is not my team's best score.

This is my aquamark score on a 4890, awarded 2.6 GTPP:

    http://www.hwbot.org/submission/2182272_i.m.o.g._aquamark_radeon_hd_4890_393604_marks

This is my team's best score:

    http://hwbot.org/submission/2178566_miahallen_aquamark_geforce_gtx_580_427398_marks

I recalculated that score specifically, and I still got the GTPP. I then recalculated all my scores from my profile page, and I still got the GTPP. I'll take the extra 2.6 points if I can't get rid of them, however it seems there is some kind of bug with the calculation on this submission.

Not a big deal, its 3 points. However it makes me wonder how many other submissions aren't being calculated correctly for GTPP, and if team points are sometimes higher or lower than they should be due to glitches like this.
