Zlucas01 Posted August 21, 2019 Posted August 21, 2019 (edited) Hi, this is the first time there. Starting with that I have a Pc build with: I5 6400, Rx480 4gb, 12gb ram, Z170 Asrock Fatal1ty K4, Silentstorm Icewind 630w, SSD and HDD. I have a custom BIOS to overclock my i5 6400 to 4.3ghz using BCLK. I want to get an i5 9600k (and overclock it), I already know riskes of vrm etc..but I really want to get a 9th intel working on my z170. I saw a video thst shows how to do phisically, but i am confused, do i have to solder pins and other? How I make a custom bios to avoid cores limits of z170 and other? Please help me, really appreciate. Is this guide working? https://forum.toms hw.it/thre ads/guida-cpu-coffee-lake-su-motherboard-skylake-o-kaby-lake.694023/ Or this better? https://www.wi n-rai d.com/t3987f16-TOOL-Easy-automated-Mod-tool-for-Coffee-Lake-bios.html And is updating bios to latest version and get a i7 7700k better than i5 9600k? Sorry for bad english.. Edited August 21, 2019 by Zlucas01 Quote

SparkysAdventure Posted August 21, 2019 Posted August 21, 2019 Either guide should work I believe. I also think you will need to short the same CPU pins as the Z170MOCF, not sure about board mods. It will likely work just fine. 1 Quote
