LordHelmchen Posted April 29, 2009 Author Posted April 29, 2009 Any hope or do we have to live with this unfairness? Quote
Drazendead Posted April 30, 2009 Posted April 30, 2009 (edited) I posted some results with a bliss ... sorry but I'm waiting for the moving of 2600 pro DDR2 and DDR3 unfair results too Edited April 30, 2009 by Drazendead Quote
LordHelmchen Posted May 24, 2009 Author Posted May 24, 2009 Any changes incoming, splitting categorys, or is this discussion dead? Quote
Gothrek Posted May 25, 2009 Posted May 25, 2009 I also think hardware should be ranked according to specs, and not stupid names +1 for splitting it up Quote
Gothrek Posted May 25, 2009 Posted May 25, 2009 BTW, maybe jmke can explain why a lot of cards are split up in DDR2/GDDR3 while they still have the same name Splitting up by memory is considered normal, but splitting up because of huge core differences is abnormal?? Quote
Gothrek Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 Sorry didn't know that, but you act a little bit in a way as if you are running the site/being a mod/etc. Still doesn't change the fact that this split up is just logical... Quote
LordHelmchen Posted May 27, 2009 Author Posted May 27, 2009 Many people who are high(er) ranked in this category agree to split up...so do it^^ Quote
knopflerbruce Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 Fact is this is a screw-up from 3rd party manufacturers and their marketing, not from hwbot. All versions are identified identically as "7800 GS". True, if you check the specs you can see a difference in enabled pipelines. I agree it's unfair for those with a plain "7800 GS", but would cost a lot of work for us to divide it into 3 categories, check 300+ submissions and move to correct category (if we are able to identify how many pipelines are enabled!!), and keep this clear for the coming years, because mistakes will be made in the future. That's a lot of work for making the 7800 GS category more fair, a lot time which we can spend - imho - better. I'm sure the ones who complain will find the ones that are not "standard" 7800gs's. Since these cards are supposed to be quite a bit better, it's quite likely that they'll be in the top 10 at least:) Quote
LordHelmchen Posted June 6, 2009 Author Posted June 6, 2009 Check out the new results form my team. Place 1 is now nearly unbeatebale. All thoose scores are done with a 24pp Card and now say again they were competetive with 16pp ones. If u decide for different categories then i will report the wrong ones for sure. knopflerbruce is right they are always under the fastest ones. Quote
