This has been verry frustrating I'm using an Asus A7V880 mobo and I am having difficulty getting the sound up and running. I checked the bios and AC97 sound as well as instant on sound are both enabled.

Windows says everything is on and working. I thought maybe there was a conflict since I had not done all the windows updates but even after making certain the os was up to date with all updates available it still has no sound. I also have a ati hd2600 which loaded some file for hd audio that I thought may be in conflict so I tried the sound with and without it enabled. I admit I'm not a professional but this is the first time I have been this stumped with a basic pc function.
