  1. Let me also point this out...

01/05/06/AM3 All you need is a cpu and any 980ti at the moment... This should be treated exactly like 2d.. because the excuse of having to bin all GPU is completely incorrect. Why isn't it treated so... Why is XTU more important?

The real GPU benchmarks that need a serious GPU... Are:

    03/Vantage/3D11/Catzillas/FS's so half....

  2. Really wish more people who actually bench 3d participate in these conversations. A guy buying 1 980ti should be able to get a decent amount of points just like a 6700k does in 2d.. Most gamers have cards... that excuse about people don't bench 3d because its too expensive is bs...

There should be enticement for doing 3d........ plain and simple.. and there is not based upon how everything is setup on hwbot..

4 way setups that change with hardware.. say 980 to 980ti... are about worthless.. and should be worth more.. maybe hardware points would be good there..... My major concern is cheaper cards should be worth more point values... make it more like 2D more chances to earn points..

  3. Guys.. also time think about bring wr points to some of the legacy 3ds as with multiple gpu scores higher again..

I would be nice to see The latest 3 card revisions get some good points.

980ti, 980, 970... Like top global score for 970.. Bring some cheaper stuff... thats what Im trying to get at. or have 4790k with FS.

Asking futuremark is not the answer.. Needs to be done here as they have their own direction.

  4. Appreciate your point of view, maybe you can give your input furthermore on this matter.

Don't hate me,i am trying hard to win the popularity award early in 2016 :D

The XTU integration within hwbot represented one of the greatest achievments in the last years due to Intel involvement and also the great amount of new submitters. Limiting the points or lowering them will trigger a switch to this and will slow down the phenomenon. So getting new users and great growing with XTU was great, now it is notbecause some people do not agree?

The 3D points are even more interesting . In order to anticipate the future of overclocking one should remember the history.

Back in the days 3D was far more interesting mainly because OVERCLOCKING meant INCREASED PERFORMANCE SURPASSING HIGHER PRICED MODELS . Remember TI4200 vs TI4600,remember 8800GTS vs 8800GTX remember Radeon 9700 vs 9800 . All the lower models when overclocked would surpass the high-end easily .Surely the high-end could be overclocked as well but because the middle cards could surpass the high-end they were more popular and earned points in the ranking . Also the price for a top card was 400$ then 500$ then gew up till the moon . Do you have any idea how things are in a country like mine(and there are many others) where a 980TI costs 1000$ and this represents a 2 medium-wage monthly income ?

Now let's see the situation today . The way things are ,GTX 980TI is THE ONLY choice for hard 3d's . That is because :

    1. GTX980 is too weak ,even overclocked to 2100-2200 core it is the equivalent of an air overclocked 980TI

    2. AMD high-end is not competitive enough in benchmarks

I see everyday people having fun with cheap i3 and 6700K in 2d or legacy benchamrks however there are few results with 980TI and X99 on ln2 .Why should the 3D points be increased for a direct benefit of the ones who can afford this kind of hardware ?

I think the better way of handling this is adding WR points to 1-way,2-way,3-way per category as well.Well i mean adding another layer of WR points into each category . For example Perica's submission :

    http://hwbot.org/submission/3068517_perica_barii_3dmark___fire_strike_extreme_3x_geforce_gtx_980_ti_27910_marks

Best 3-way results would get 53 points from global 3,0 points since in global WR of 3d and 100 points for 3-way WR ranking . Overall submission will have 152 points which is good for a 3-way effort .

Also increasing the Global 3D WR points from top 10 being awarded to top 20 getting additional points with a lower thresold between places would be nice.

    IMHO...

YES>>>>>>>>> This is the overhaul 3D needs... Cheaper point alternatives... like 2d....

The goal.. Make it cheaper to be able to compete.... more points for this area...

You could remove all the points for the tops scores and give it to this area and I would be happy... More competition...

You will never be able to take out binned.... You can't prove anything....

  5. Because he started the 3d points phenomen and i don't see the majority of community considering this measure necesary..

To put it in perspective , average bencher benches 2d and what 3d can afford , maybe he can afford a 980ti maybe not but somehow he is pleased with the way things are. Now comes rbuass who has the key to binn dozens and hundreds of 980TI and complains everyday that 3d points are low.Let's say management listens to rbuass and does what he wants. How will the average bencher feel? Not good. That is the problem, ask the community first and if the majority is happy with this idea then everything is perfect . This is all about the community standing behind this platform, not personal feeling and so on . I do not like to bring this into discussion but you have to remember xtremesystems and other communities that todayy are not doing vvery good. I do not want this to happen to my favorite place so that's why i write this posts. I take responsability for what i write,i am ok with that .

Becareful Alex.. You might get docked points as I did for saying the exact same things about binning.... and the same person.... its a joke.. no more points for me... ;)

  6. Pretty much sums it up....

    Very well said....

So George buy a 20.000 dollar fishing rod, catch a fish , take a selfie and throw it back...

To be honest there's a lot of " I don't like this, I don't like that, it will never turn into that,... Plz provide some thoughts on how to improve things... The Bot has gone through so many versions and it always boils down to the same: I don't like the new algorythm, I don't get enough points,... Ow really ? I haven't notived much in all these years that I've been active here, I didn't experience a massive drop in my ranking. All is done for the better, but the knife will always cut on both sides...

Where I think the root of all evil is: Many of you think you get into OC and get lots of freebies because you are ranked high or break some WRs. That has happened to a mere handfull of people. But not alone because they were active HWBot but also do their own development, write reviews, provide feedback and spend weeks debugging the darn board or card. Let me tell you: "The golden ages are over and done with"

Yeah it is a hobby that can cost a freaking lot of money. But it is still you that decides in the end if you want to buy high end GPUs and cherry binned CPUs. You as an individual determine how far you want to push the envelope... so you blame the Bots algorythm because you wasted 10K on hardware and now you dropped in the ranking?

Like stated by Alex, depending on the benchmarks, no points last forever. Records will get broken again, time after time, that is evolution my friends. Either you jump on the bandwagon and keep on riding it or jump off at a certain moment... Where you want to go is again fully up to you...

I also wonder also what you guys think of OC becoming E-sport... is it again the green cash that thrives that thought ? We have more and more events worldwide. True we will never fill a football arena with 20000 mad gamers watching a boring card game alike Hardstone... I don't care as long as we can get together on any location, bench and have fun... you really think all E-sports players can make a living out of it... for sure, the happy few again...

Criticizm is easy to do, constructive inputs is something else. Some of you look at the Bot as a bussiness machine where all the people involved earn lots of money because of your hard earned scores... Remember myself and loads of others do it all for your pleasure, read for free. The moderating, debating done in our free time coz we want to share our passion and improve it. Fly to Taiwan at our own expense just to hang out with one another and too have fun. That is a hobby my friends, as long as I can afford it I will do it. But the constant nagging is a true pain in the ass, as we get confronted with the same this and thats, time after time. Change something and it will result in others being unhappy... seems like a never ending story...

Just my two cents... the guy staring back at you when looking in the mirror is the one that decides which way it al goes... you need to focus on the fun part instead of what do I get out of it...

  7. AFAIK 3D Benchmark is not all about GPU, CPU is affected too even in real world gaming (like Crysis 3, Watch Dogs, etc). But the different is not as much as 3DMark do (in this case powerfull CPU like i7 5960X, i7 6700K, i5 6600K). I think @xxbassplayerxx is right, for 3D maybe you should contact the benchmark developer. And as far as i know more resolution = less CPU dependant benchmark, like FSU is less CPU dependant than FS or 3DMark11 P. CMIIW.

How is cpu not relevant in FS/FSE/FSU? You need higher cores currently to even remotely be in the top.

Whats nice about this benchmark is that you don't need high cpu for GPU score, unlike other benchmarks.

Why would futuremark have anything to do with this? There benchmark is great..

Different benchmarks will do different things... Do you want to make them the same?

We have different benchmarks for different reasons.. vantage/3d11/Catzillas/FS's they are all quite different... Why would we change FS for anything... don't see the point at all.

My point here is....... Allowing lower core amounts to achieve points. 6700k is 4 core 8 threads.. If someone has high gpu score with this low cpu they can't compete.

If the benchmark was also done by cores, it would change how many people and who would be able to bench it... because the cost is lower.... because the least amount of cores. The main reason why 3d isn't benched so much is because the lack of good points that people can get. Why submit or even learn 3d when 2d is much easier to do.. meaning the most cost effective.. Why learn something that costs a bit more and can be more difficult... more pots.... different loads...

It would be nice to see 3D by cores of CPU and GPU Cores... the hardware points for these could really go much higher.

  8. I still think your missing the whole point of 3D.

It should be like how it is with 2D cpu. You should be able to bench skylake for vantage, 3d11... just like doing 5960x for legacies..

and get points. The current platform kills 3d.... People wouldn't have to buy each platform... and get top points...

Also the reason why you don't see the latest smaller generation used so much.... doesn't get much points... I personally don't bench for points...... but alot of people do and thats what drives them to bench. Until you fix that piece, nothing you do will change 3d and will eventually make it obsolete.

I bench for fun... not for rank.... thats what ruins oc.

  9. It's a little late.. should have done this last year.

Some benchmarks should be excluded from this as they are cpu benchmarks and pretry much no gpu. Pretty easy to tell which ones.

Not too mention the point system just doesn't make sense. I'll still drop my points.

  10. ya I just grabbed a 2x4gb kit of hyper x savage 2666 c13 and pulled the spreaders off last night and finally got some afr. For $80 hopefully I can bin a couple and find 2 nice sticks. Sure beats spending $200+ on one kit g-skill e-die. I have trouble with xtu efficiency and e-die, but mfr/afr is great.

I still wonder where are the higher rated afr kits.

Could be your imc.. try different chips.. For me the E die were stressing my imc more.. different chips different results.
