looks like the IC for GPUv is one of the 2x located on the back side just above your vendor sticker.. what are the IC #'s there?
-
Ahh.. mine is QE6V.. so guess my cpu is newer than those batch.

if you dont mind - which vendor mobo was it tested on.. and how much vccin?
-
I have an early CO ES.. no death here and been testing since Dec'12 with it.
*Only deaths I have heard of were early C0 Malay retail.. seems vccin over 2.3v is 'scary' for them. Though between folks trying to shove 1.6vcore while leaving vccin @ 1.85v, and people not using a DMM to verify SA and Ring/Uncore.. i can see why some CPU have gone to heaven
**MSI has actually adjusted the 'safe' voltage ranges in the BIOS since retail release to prevent people from getting to friendly with certain voltage ranges on air.
-
what do they mean by DDR3-2801 1.76V not recommended?
MSI is trolling with 'ES' volts
**funny, uncore volts are listed but not vccin.. these guys

ATI Tray tools works with Volterra IC's as well for voltage set..

Fyi, we had a funky cold issue with Z87 last weekend.
At -135°C, 01 Nature was ~70FPS; at -107°C, 01 nature was ~ 220FPS. Reboot solved the issue though.
PCI-E link 'cold slow' .. strange.. sometimes I get it.. other times not. Could be tied to input voltage ratio's. I have had both: VGA signal 'drop' to black screen, and VGA/PCI-E cold slow.. but adjusted Input and IO's and have not had it return.. yet

I have some results on air using the Mpower Max and the Xpower, as well as some pics in my thread on OCN

go l0ud, or go home!
-
RT = switching frequency
*will test and post some resistances and volt levels with ocp mod. A few caps seem to be helping. L0ud posted some good results with the card so far.
Thanks for the info

@ zzolio - what is your +12v input reading at under load - as measured at the PCI-E input?
*nice job on the mods btw! I will be modding the same, except without VID [do not think VID benefits this design, by moving OCP/ILIM as VID increases]. You mentioned you are getting OCP still .. or not?
-
GPUv confirmed on NCP flavor as well.. same pinout, just different packaging/rev#.
*Need ILIM and RT
*Need functional cold-slow now too!
-
I see the Marksman is getting use at your place after all! Nice result with first CPU
-
tfresh isnt over 9k
-
...Would be nice to see DS to work mods for OCP, OVP and RT.. anyone care to post a snippet? I will post resistance and mod points once confirmed.
-
bring teh moddz!
-
@ Mikecdm - Thats one crazy overvolt for sure! The Mpower I have, only has ~+.15v on CPU and vDIMM, running 100% droop options, with 2x Switching Freq.. which is very tolerable.
*You using the Aux power connection on the board by chance?
-
more info for mods on the IC here-> http://www.overclock.net/t/1009397/msi-6950-tfiii-pe-oc-testing-w-cl3p20/40_40#post_14394941
..its same IC as 6950 PE/OC and GTX570 PE/OC..
http://www.overclock.net/t/1203434/msi-gtx570-tfiii-pe-hardmod/0_40#post_16342483
**Per Ch. OCP and total OCP brought solid gains to both 6950 and 570.. seems circuits were a bit current limited even at stock clocks. Make sure your PCB does not have current shunts though.. as these will require additional mods to surpass amperage limitations.
-
yeah, needed the boost.. good stuff man.
-
@ XA - could be just your board too.. seen some interesting variations in characteristics just using 1x Mpower over another..
*I bring vcore over ~1.87v in the OS though.. and not in BIOS, as cold booting high-vcore has been where I have seen catastrophic failure with them. vDroop starts getting increasingly worse as you tip 1.9v.
-
Use PLL for help with cold slow.. doesnt really do much else, lol.
*cant wait to peek at some cold results with mods.
-
Hey Loud,Think it only 1.835v-1.85v,tried F5b but there was no bclk option in bios.
solder it up Bull ! Dont let manufacturer limitations get in your way!
-
.. i been saying..
*the mods are the same as the GTX570 PE/OC.. full OCP, per phase OCP, GPUv and RT should all be the same.. I would recommend PLL and vmem of course for LN.

Q - are the 3GB 660TI's acceptable for Pro cup.. or is there a 2GB limitation for onboard memory?
