Whenever I upload a submission it tells me I've decided not to receive points for my submission even though I leave that box unticked.

 

I only have to go to edit submission and save again and it fixes itself, but it's annoying all the same

Capacitors in parallel add their capacitance together, so yes.

Keep the leads as short as possible though.
