Hey guys i have had made misterious experiences with my CPU. I am not able to handle this one - the Ryzen 7 9700X is HOTtttttttttt - doesnt matter what i do. What i expect is a significant difference between 240 AiO and 360 AiO also TOP vs FRONT Mount especially in IDLE and with OC off. Am i hunting ghosts and dreams ? Or is my CPU a "very special" one ? Hope you can help me with your experience. Windows 11 NVIDIA RTX5070 AMD Ryzen 7 9700X MSI PRO X870E-P WIFI (BIOS 7E70v2A42) 32GB DDR5 RAM Creative Soundkarte 27" Acer XF 144Hz & HP Omen 240Hz (1920x1080) You can see my previously benchs https://hwbot.org/users/bestnoob/ So now i switched to an 360 AiO Watercooler b…

Decided to post a major update on my Engineering Sample 3080Ti FE with 20GB VRAM. (My original post here). Yes, I went back on a few things I originally said I would not do. Some of you will probably think I am crazy for modifying a rare ES card this aggressively. That is fair. But for me this card is as much a research platform as it is a collector piece. The goal here was exploration. I learned a lot about its limitations and design in the process. And since everything I did to it worked, I figured it was worth documenting. What Changed Since the Original Post Proper stack shunt mod Liquid metal on the die with added clamp pressure Upgraded from 12W/mK pads to a 20W…

(TL;DR at bottom) I recently got my hands on a 20GB variant of the RTX 3080 Ti that appears to be an unreleased engineering sample. This post is a mix of teardown notes, benching results, and general observations while figuring out what exactly this thing is and how it behaves. STORY TIME (skip to TEARDOWN if you just want the technical details) Here's some unboxing photos: Link A friend of mine came across a local listing for a “3080 Ti 20GB Engineering Sample” for $200. Obviously that set off alarms. Retail 3080 Ti is 12GB, so it sounded fake, a typo, or something weird. The listing repeated 20GB multiple times and explicitly said Engineering Sample, so he decided to…

Anyone here with this board , using a 48GB kit (Hynix M-die) ? How was your first boot with this board using a 48GB kit ? After changing my memory kit , from a 32GB (Hynix A-die) to a 48GB kit (Hynix M-die) , i can no longer boot normally. In fact i can no longer boot at all. I tried three different versions of bios (3.10 - 3.25 - 3.50 the latest) but nothing changed. The board refuses to boot. I have to use abnormal methods to make the board boot, work and oc. The board boots with only one stick of memory. =>get into bios =>load default settings =>save and exit =>get into bios =>put my own settings (oced or not) =>save and exit Then install the second m…

I was trying to run RX 9070 XT on LGA 2011-3 but no luck so far The systems seem to boot but there is no image displayed all the time. I forced PCI Express setting in BIOS - no matter if Auto or Gen3 or Gen 2 or Gen 1 - doesn't help. Tried disabling Resizable BAR - no effect. Used either DisplayPort or HDMI - doesn't seem to matter. When I switch back to RX 6800 XT everything runs like a charm. Any ideas appreciated! Anyone knows if there is a beta bios or a bios mod , for Gigabyte B760 , that enables AVX512 ? I've got a 12th gen avx512 capable cpu and i dont see an option to enable it in bios. I thought that by disabling E-cores in bios i would have the option to enable avx512 ... but that's not happening. Bios used is F10 https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/B760M-H-DDR4-rev-10/support#support-dl-bios

I don't know if this has already discussed. ( Intel side yes , AMD side I don't know ) But I'd like to hear your opinions on efficiency and performance cores ( Intel E and P / AMD c and C ). Intel has had this for a few generations and has a dedicated category for it. Meanwhile, AMD has also started using C and c cores in the same cpu. But so far, there's no category for that. Who else thinks AMD deserves the same treatment? and secont thinh : Who else thinks that any CPU with "Pro" in the name is a server CPU? Just to be clear, I'm not talking about Threadripper Pro. server cpu's are : xeon , opteron , epyc , ampere ( altra , ampereOne ) Sorry, Alrbecht. But I alone won…

Over the last few years, the board has been on LN2 about a dozen times and every 2-3 sessions it would arrive in a state where it would shut down and no longer react to the power button. The only way to get it back to work was putting it in a 120c oven for 10 minutes or so. However, after its most recent breakdown + ovening it now exhibits the following behavior: - With Seasonic Titanium 1000W: no reacton to power button at all - With Corsair AX1500i: it powers up, but shuts down before it completes POST - With Silverstone OP1000: it powers up and works perfectly fine. But, if I set the Vmch to any value other than [Auto] in the BIOS, the board shuts down d…

This is another 775 mobo I get for the sole purpose of fun and pushing the AGP limit(s) with some serious CPU's. The mobo does support not only AGP, but also PCIe and not only DDR(1) rams, but DDR2 as well: http://hwbot.org/hardware/motherboard/775dual_vsta/ So, it is a remarkable piece of hardware Also after updating the bios to latest official P3.10 version ( http://www.asrock.com/mb/VIA/775Dual-VSTA/ ), there are plenty of bios options to play. More that I imagined: And that is not all! There are existing modified bioses ( http://pctreiber.net/asrock-bios-downloads?did=103 ) that since v3.10a give the possibility to boost the max…

Funny board. I made a bios mod with nvme driver, different variants of microcode and right brand and model name. HWBOT does not auto detect this board via BM submissions. May be ti should be "Esonic", but not "ESONIC". I can share my bios mod, but it is really trivial.

Hi! Bought this motherboard off marketplace with i7 930 and i7 950 . All went OK when installing XP`s and I made the changes from luumi`s video on yt. When I installed CPU-Z 2.09 the thing doesn`t open! Its stuck at loading at 12-15% ... If in .ini I put PCI to 0 it opens, but its missing some specs. Is this ok for validations? The same is with 2.08 . I tried different rams, tried both cpu`s, the bios was not the latest I updated and still the same. I didn`t try different OS that is my next thing to do. Maybe some hardware problem, the board is old and who knows where it was for the last couple of years …

Hey everybody, I hope this is the right subforum to ask? If not please move it accordingly. So... after being on a 2500k @ 5.2GHz for almost 13 years now, I feel it's time for something new. Since I don't change my system like every year or so (obviously :D), I'm eyeing the AM5 platform to be my best bet on possible future upgrades if AMD is going to keep its promise to release a few more cpus for this socket in the next few years. Basically right now I'm a bit in trouble with finding the right mainboard and I hope you guys can help. I'm planning on buying an "E" chipset board, so that I have PCIe5 should I need it in the future and a 7800X3D is supposed to be…

Basically there are PCIe GPUs available from China that use chips originally destined for laptops, which were originally made for miners due to their excellent efficiency but can now be picked up quite cheap due to their drawbacks for home use. Many types are available (3060 6/12G, 3070, 3070Ti, 3080 and even some older 20 series). I happened to get a 3070M dirt cheap from an ex miner recently. This is a somewhat similar case as this post about chinese bga-lga laptop CPUs though a bit different given that this is identical to retail silicon. The cooling is obviously far superior to that of a laptop but there are other limitations. There is no support for ReBa…
