  1. wPrime 1024M test finished w/o any troubles now!

A big thanks to TerraRaptor for help - w/o him I did not know, that "the problem with time - transfer from 23.59 to 00.00 makes wprime crazy" ... So I set the time to 0:01 and then I run wPrime 1024M test again, for the 3th time. This time no cheating complaining from wPrime!

    Thanks, TerraRaptor! :celebration:

    There is the score:

A "bit" slower that I expected, but... time for optimizing Windows come :P

  2. 160MHz? How is that possible? Ram timings? How much Vcore? So awesome overclock on so old mobo, wow! Breathtaking.

But it is weird to see there different clock speeds:

    post screen - 160MHz

    TestCPU - 153MHz

    CPU identification - 126.3MHz

I believe that old version of CPU-Z will work on the older version of Windows just nicely and show the proper clock :) If not, then there is this little 4k utility for showing the CPU clock too: TSCWin 1.0

    http://falcosoft.hu/softwares.html#tscwin

It does absolutely nothing, besides showing up the CPU clock. Size - 4744 bytes. Asm source included. Might be worth checking out, I try it on my 10.7MHz machine as soon, as wPrime end it's 1024M run: http://forum.hwbot.org/showthread.php?t=145068 For the 3th time...!

  3. Very nice indeed. You show who is the boss there! :)

What are the ram timings? And what is the black box mounted on the PSU? Some added stabilization or...? :)

Pretty nice score anyway. Since my only one Socket 7 board cannot get past 83MHz FSB, I did not stand a chance in the K6 battle (not to mention not having K6 ATM in the first place), but the result is still IMHO impressive. I wish I can run modern graphic card that give plenty of resolution as well. 800x600 suxx :(

  4. I twice run the HWbot wPrime v1.55 on the 1024M test with same results:

wPrime is telling me, that I cheating. What the hell...? I just use overclocked Pentium 90 to 125MHz and that it is. The machine is stable, it did SuperPi 32M anyway:

    http://hwbot.org/submission/2971047_

...and I did not run any software over standard WinXP. In fact, I did not even touch the machine. And the computing time is not that great, after all. 15,75hours aren't anywhere near fast to get to the 94% :(

So, what could I do to produce P90 @ 125MHz wPrime score?

  5. No idea, what frequency to expect on the ISA bus, when running ref / 2 clock. If the 8MHz ISA clock is taken from the 24MHz by 3x divider, then at situation, when it is not 24MHz, but ref / 4 (3,575MHz), then we have to expect condition like 1,191666MHz on the ISA bus...

Just plain math. It is probably better idea to force the VGA mode that works just well... even if that means - God forbid! - 640x480 in 16colors :( I would hope for 1024x768, but that is not going to happen... so 800x600 in 16colors I maybe can manage? In case of 640x480 I would just need more validation screens, lol...

And I did not have any ISA card to try and getting a good one like Tseng ET4000AX sounds kinda expensive with the unclear perspective on the working situation...

  6. Ah, that is why there are short supply of the 550MHz models! :) Thanks for the heads up!

And I did not only want AMD K6 III, but K6 III+ is a must ;)

Indeed is true, that not many boards support them, but there are bios patches that helps, adding the support... so it this will work as advertised, then it should not be any problem for me to make these CPU's run in my Asus TXP4-X mobo.

2 years to find AMD K6 III that bench at 620MHz? Interesting. I find in day czech guy, that have AMD K6 2 500AFK. But it is not III and not + either...

And given the fact, that one can overvolt these CPU badly and easily, then I did not understand, why the problems...

  7. Yea, the fastest Socket 7 CPU with the "+" variant for some multiplicator changes is wanted :P

    Illustration (only 2+) image.

There are some good deals on eBay, but they are usually closed kinda fast for me and not featured the III+, only 2+:

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/AMD-K6-2-550-MHz-SOCKET-7-WORKING-FREE-SHIPPING-/261942037257?hash=item3cfcf64b09

Or there are III+, but 400MHz only:

    ...so I just wonder, where are the III+ at 550MHz hidding :D :D :D
