A small topic for some sort of a how-to. Who has access to this subforum? HWBOT staff HWBOT OC ArcheologistAntinomy Hyperhorn Only people with the OC Archeologist role on the front page can add submissions to the database. Some people prefer to just be part of the discussion, but don't have the time to actually add the scores. It's possible to just be part of the forum discussion group and not have the front page roles. How to manage this? Three steps: Identifying the resources Collecting the records Adding the records to the database (and timeline) I propose to add the resources like forums and OC databases in the resource stick…

I browse old rankings a lot so I thought I'd use this time to also pick out some notable retired OCers - there's no bombproof way of telling whether someone is retired so if any of you are still around just reply here and accept my apologies! @knopflerbruce - one of the few to run AM2 on LN2, almost 3,000 hardware golds - most ever. No subs since 2017 @Christian Ney - memory OC legend and of course one of only 6 people to get the Aquamark achievement @Mad222 - King of AM3 with the only sub 10 mins SP32M. No subs since 2013 but possibly doing some work under the @GalaxOCLab group account? @fredyama - similar to Mad, still occasionally active on g…

I found this old 3d benchmark dated from 1997, released by remedy. Bunny's Workshop used this bench to competitions in the late 90's. The benchmark gives a final score. This one is not on Hwbot 3d bechmarks list, but i think it's worth be in there, and it can be used for Old School is the Best School competitions as well. Download link: https://files.scene.org/view/demos/groups/remedy/fr101.exe Bunny's Workshop ranks with Matrox Millennium G200 and other vintage graphics cards. Bunny's Workshop

  6. Hello everyone, I would start by apologizing for my really bad English. It's all in the title I'm looking for a bios for old MSI GX620 laptop. Particularly version 1.0E --> A1651MS.10E of 08/01/2008 And or version 1.0Z --> A1651MS.10Z 06/25/2008 These are the only version compatible with Setfsb , I use version 1.0P and this one does not work. Of course all bios links on the internet are dead. I'm a big fan of mobile hardware overclocking and IGP ? Thanks for your help.

A few still exist, mine has the DDR2 adapter and I have the original box. Not for sale, just showing off.

On https://hwbot.org/hardware/motherboard/a7v8x_x/ stays chipset KT400 (VT8368), but https://valid.x86.fr/show_oc.php?id=2352255 shows another like KT600 and yet sourse shows VT8235 .

  10. Found YoungPro's 734 FSB: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?197125-Team-AU-condsolidates-with-4-World-Records&p=3187312&viewfull=1#post3187312 I know in the past Massman added scores that happened before HWBot existed retroacticvely to the DB wtih pts disabled, is that still something that is allowed / encouraged? I think it would be nice to have because, even 12+ years later this is in the #3 spot. This is just one example of course, I'm sure there are many more great scores lurking.

  11. Started by unityofsaints,

The oldest submission I can find using the search form is this one from the 8th of March 2006: https://hwbot.org/submission/498730_trouffman_cpu_frequency_pentium_4_561_5263_mhz It's hard to know whether this is really the first sub as the fact that past world records were added "posthumously" clouds the picture. HWBot's copyright is 2004 - present (as indicated by the page footer), does that mean the project was in startup mode 2004 - 2006 with no submissions made or have those subs made in that timeframe been purged somehow?

Just an idea that some might already have considered. There is so much knowledge and history about overclock that it could be compiled in a great book, with photos, curiosities, interviews, documents, testimony and many other things. Pretty sure many will buy it and, afaik, the first book only about it. It could cover since 286 crystal change era until nowadays.

Does anyone here knows WHO made and WHEN occurred the first extreme Hardware overclock "session" in the overclocking history?

  15. Started by Jerre,

Hey all, I've got an issue. I had a working motherboard, after mothballing it, i installed some components, put power to it, and low and behold: it worked. After a cleanup, involving a bios chip removal because corrosion, it failed on me. Nothing goes. Is there anybody (Belgium) willing to take a look at it? My guess: 1) the socket for the bios chip is missing connections: the corrosion snapped some of them off. 2) the CMOS battery (VARTA NiCd) is leaking, I guess no paths are broken (visual inspection) but i do think it needs a new cmos battery (button battery mod). I got a rudimentary soldering iron and no expertise/practise in fine soldering work ne…

So while i was digging for more ancient ln2 extreme overclocking, i unearthed some excellent material that deserve to have it's own thread I did not find the specific date that the event occurred, but I imagine it's around 2000 or earlier. I will start with this guys from "Project E.U.N.U.C.H.", which, according to them, means "The Extreme Use of Nearly Universal Cooling Hardware" LoL. It's a crazy and fun overclocking session that a bunch of friends invented to drink some holy water until they die of happiness :0 For more funny info: Project E.U.N.U.C.H.

And I cannot find a driver for Windows XP and S3 Trio64. No matter how hard I try. Only for WinNT, where the drivers are good, giving the needed 1024x768. Yes, there is the files: s3legacy.dll s3legacy.sys ...in WinXP install. However just copy them alone into the system32 and system32/drivers for the sys file did not do anything. I need the inf file for them and I can find only a inf file for S3Trio3D in Windows XP install, but not for the legacy S3Trio64 card. That suxx I would also like to have better driver, that …
