  1. V1.8 Godlike gaming When Haswell-E CPU Ratio over 37 and then system may become instable. * 37 cpu or Ring? Running my cpu at 46 auto volts for everything and it's solid. *What about 3200 memory not working.
  2. The Haswell-E memory controller isn't as good as Broadwell-E so i would just stick to 2666c14 on Haswell-E. If you had a BW-E then better memory would give a boost. Best to do some cache OC for Haswell but these latest bios updates are flaky. The old 1.3 bios i was doing 4.5 cpu 4.0 ring 3200 mem on auto settings.
  3. 125Mhz BClk will pump the volts up. Revert to 100mhz BClk by setting ram to 2666 from DRAM Setting. Disable XMP. Set ring ratio to auto. Set CPU ratio to 40 to start with. Set everything to auto on that OC page.
  4. Enhanced memory controller was explained on this thread further back. Can't recall exactly, something to do with if the CPU memory controller is under par, that option may help stability.
  5. there is still cache issues with 1.70 godlike. passes memtest with higher than default cache speed but windows will black screen while loading.
  6. thats 125mhz QPi and 3000Mhz memory settings. Stay at 2666mhz and they will drop to 1.200 VCCSA, and 1.050 VCCIO on the 100mhz QPi. Ive tried 3200 ram and 4ghz cache and all that, it just makes the volts higher.
  7. Im using 8x4GB sticks at 2666Mhz C14-14-14-36 stable, BUT if i go to 3000 or 3200 its no go with the failed settings message. 2666 C14 is hell fast anyway. With default cache hits 62GB/s read in aida64. Also don't use XMP, just select memory speed only. You can have enhanced memory controller enabled and auto volts. I use AUTO for everything and ENABLED for several settings, not a single manual volt and it does fine. 4.6Ghz 5960X + 8x4GB mem 2666mhz and no tomfoolery. Had a good test updating to W10 1607 and it went fine with 331 apps installed as well. prefer fire and forget settings.
  8. Tried that, it's like nothing displays at all, just blank screen. Maybe the non official ROM done something to it. Rapid storage (V15) works in Windows because if i change it to AHCI, rapid storage in windows fails to load.
  9. Still no Intel Option ROM. And no way to create an array in Rapid Storage console in windows, the create button is missing. Weird...
  10. OK, 1.72 bios installed. Ring OC is there but board wont boot with 4000 ring + it will not do 3000Mhz XMP (125 FSB). All settings AUTO as well, even just changing XMP only to profile 1, board crash boots needing a cmos reset. Also, Intel RAID bios not showing, RAID enabled in integrated peripherals. Pressing CTRL-I results in nothing, all through the post boot. I think this board is bunnyed, it somehow killed my 5960X too, a J batch purchased in July 2015. It was replaced with a L batch. It's still under warranty, so might get the board replaced. The MSI forum are ignorant. *going to switch bios and see if intel option rom diplays.
  11. On 1.60 bios the CTRL+I notification doesn't display even when RAID is selected in drive config in bios. I will try that 1.72 you suggested.

  13. Bumping for request, adding a new SSD to existing array and need Intel RAID setup bios enabled. Also having BSOD's with mem at 3200 AUTO (auto timings) whereas the 1.3 bios didn't have such behaviour.

  15. mine died from what looked like a Debug Code 60 fault, must be the IMC that died. Volts were on AUTO as well.

  17. Ahh, ok. I updated the board to V1.5 Yer, maybe those other ring voltages are not there, didn't pay attention to that, gonna check now. When using V1.3, it did everything, even the Intel RAID bios displayed at post. V1.5 doesn't display Intel RAID at post. Might revert back to 1.3 Will update findings with screenshots. **after being so used to 1.3 bios, totally invisible what 1.5 misses out ***So what we need is OCRing and Intel RAID config at post.
  18. The RING volts was whatever the board auto sets. Sometimes i would try 1.200 to see how stable it was, but set back everything to auto, let the board figure it out and it seemed to work stable. Think the board may have a fault now. Will begin a RMA, left message on MSI forums, as it now doesnt boot with XMP 3000Mhz. And the RING is unstable even at 3200mhz (getting blue screen 0xc000021a until i set it back to auto/default) Also the RAM use to do 3200mhz now it just gets the 0xc000021a error too. The temps are cold too, currently 9 Celcius outside. Also have a ticket with corsair to get some new cables, the cable are loose and move around inside the connectors (PCIe and CPU power cables). *Just checked existing cables, then tried XMP 3000 even with CMOS resets and power cycles = no go. **It does 4.5Ghz Auto low volts low temps, default ring and 2666mhz XMP (so im running this now)

Yer, well i am just not sure how it happened, as it was at auto volts and i dont have the cooling power to do anything outrageous anyway, just the 4.5 core, 4.0 ring, 3200 ram benchmarks. It would function fine with ordinary daily use. Never tortured it with encoding or priming. Diagnostics: If i installed 1 stick of RAM, it would turn on then off in about .5 seconds. If i installed 4 sticks of RAM, it would hang at debug code 60 and stay powered on. There might be a motherboard fault with power delivery. I have had other boards that dies (Asrock X99 Extreme11 that died about 7 days after purchase) Maybe the PSU is surging power (AX1200i) as i have had this for 3 years now and my previous setup died in the same manner with debug code 60 (3930K)- but that is out of warranty.
  20. Where TF is everyone, on holidays? Concluding that the dead 5960X was something to do with the IMC. Anyhow, new cpu is in and running cooler with new paste (old paste was definitely interfering with heat transfer) and i can also turn the fan speeds down now. Keeping ram at 2666 as it holds VCCSA at V1.2, and if i use 3200(auto) for ram it will set V1.350 auto (XMP disabled). Bit concerned about that high VCCSA with auto settings. Why is the auto rule for cache/ring changing to fixed voltage when it gets near the 4.0ghz setting? The lower speeds are using offset volts (3.8 to 3.0). Offset is preferred. Trying to use auto settings only across the board. **Updated to 1.51. All ram still working, set to default before updating uefi. *** Max 5960X volts 24/7 = ?.???
  21. Well, My 5960X died, after 10 months of use, never abused it. Didn't do anything stupid to it either, just auto volts. It was replaced by intel but still cant understand why it would die. This is what happened: Using PC, then did shutdown from windows. Went out for 2 hours of errands. Came home, pressed power button and no display. Next day i went to the PC shop and we were using the process of elimination. I thought DIMM slot 1 was dead on the board, so after swapping out rams and cpus, ended up being the CPU. Still want to get close the 6900K OC speeds, but what the hell would of killed it with auto volts? Guessing it could of been constant heat as the thermal paste wasn't very good, it was very cured and heavy to wipe off. Using different paste now and it runs at lower temp. I even had the internal vr ovp ocp protection enabled. *Updated to 1.4 with a default bios reset first, and all 4 ram sticks in. Ram is ok after bios pdate. ** i have a feeling the Enhanced Memory Controller setting may have done something to the dead cpu and maybe other users memory faults. *Could the memory at 3200Mhz be harming the cpu by setting the SA to V1.350 on auto config? ** Never ran prime95 with 16 threads / or in a tortureous manner to the point where it was killing it, just quick benches with Realbench or Cinebench or X264, where it would run just 20 mins or a run through and screenshot the results. Using the system as a workstation, not a bench station.
  22. ? I've flashed official/beta bios revisions since whatever the original bios was from July 2015 and haven't had this problem yet. I set everything to auto before flashing too.
  23. Whats the gig with the 1.50 beta for godlike? Any godlike features?
