October 22, 201411 yr Hey there, First off, this is my first post on HWBOT so forgive me if it's not in the right section. I got myself a 4790k and a maximus VII hero not too long ago, and I want to start getting more into overclocking it. I succeeded in overclocking to 4.8 ghz, but the performance generally gets worse than the standard clock, especially in cpu demanding games. Is there someone willing to explain me how to properly overclock my 4790k and how my previous overclock caused more lag than standard frequency? Thanks a bunch!
October 22, 201411 yr Lags are caused by overheating. Take care temperature be lower tjmax - cool better, set voltages lower. Start with 1.6v vccin and 1.25 vcore.
October 24, 201411 yr Author The thing is, it's not overheating at all. It has never hit more than 45c even when playing 3 games at once.
