CPU Temp displayed by XTU?

I'm not sure if this is the correct place for this question but here goes. XTUs output for temp is titled CPU core temp. Is this the average of all cores or is this the CPU temp typical displayed by motherboard BIOS? Does the Temp come from the DTS or from the centralized analog sensor?
