Posted May 24, 201510 yr Hi everyone, got a bit of an odd one here:P. Running 4x 6170 opteron CPU's with 48 cores in total and hwbot prime is only seeing 32. Maxing out CPU load at 66%. Is there a trick to getting it to see all 48 cores? Cinebench, wprime etc. see all 48 cores and load up 100%. Running server 2008R2 and java version 45 update 45 if that makes a difference. Any help is much appreciated . Thanks!!
May 24, 201510 yr I *think* it may be a software limitation. I could be wrong, though. I'll wait to see what others have to say.
May 24, 201510 yr Author Looking at the other submissions on hwbot, there's only a couple, but it's listing 48 cores in the gui whereas mine has only 32 listed
May 25, 201510 yr Hm, good question. My first guess would be the Java version. Have you tried others?
May 27, 201510 yr Author Just tried Java version 7 u47 and no dice either . Windows is definitely seeing all 48 cores/threads. I thought it might be an issue like cinebench R11.5 reporting/using 32 cores (but you can override). But it's odd that the other 3 entries definitely show 48 cores/threads. Not sure on their OS though.
May 28, 201510 yr If you want to override the threads you can do that with the command line start cmd.exe and type java.exe -Dthreads=48 -jar hwbotprime-0.8.3.jar Use javaw.exe if you want to be able to click the cmd away for prettier screenshots (though score might be affected)
May 28, 201510 yr Author Thanks for the reply . I gave it a shot but unfortunately it's still doing the same thing
May 29, 201510 yr Author Ok! It looks to be just a glitch with the GUI. Running with the method spiedie posted it is running using all 48 cores now, just still displaying 32. It's possible it's just an error with the magny cours Opterons. Someone has just submitted a new entry with 4x 6172 opterons and their gui is showing 32 threads also. The other 48 core entries are interlagos and abu-dhabi. Thanks everyone
May 29, 201510 yr Yea the GUI is set to 32 before the system property is checked (which you set to 48). Looks like it happens with that generation of opterons. Glad i could help
