modded .inf- legal?

If I found a good driver for benching but it didnt support a card I wanted to bench, would it be legal to mod the .inf so I could use the card with the driver?

    Thanks :) Will highlight any runs I submit with a modded .inf so mods can check im not playing silly buggers....better safe than sorry :D
