BeepBeep2 Posted June 17, 2012 Posted June 17, 2012 Is this one of the new ones? My new chip has a 1.0v CPU-NB VID but the CPU-NB is on the really weak side, 3400 max on DICE. Sick chip Quote
I.nfraR.ed Posted June 17, 2012 Posted June 17, 2012 Yes, 1210PGT. Same here for the cpu-nb, can't do 3GHz on water... Quote
BeepBeep2 Posted June 17, 2012 Author Posted June 17, 2012 Mine is 1212PGT. Your chip seems about the same as mine. Quote
just_nuke_em Posted June 18, 2012 Posted June 18, 2012 Nice. I don't think I will be able to beat that Quote
Ananerbe Posted June 18, 2012 Posted June 18, 2012 Good job! I have 955(1209PGT), but NB-Memory subsystem works too bad. I have spend 32L of LN2, but haven't gone any further then second iteration... Second core this CPU was valided on 7154MHz... WTF??? Quote
I.nfraR.ed Posted June 18, 2012 Posted June 18, 2012 Second and fourth cores are better than the first on my chip, but since it works on 1 core only, I can't test them properly. After drying the board I tried it on stock again and it was working on 4 cores. Quote
BeepBeep2 Posted June 18, 2012 Author Posted June 18, 2012 Huh. On air cooling, the first core on my chip was the best. The second core trailed by about 100 MHz and the 3/4 cores were mediocre. Actually, I can't run the 1st core as fast if I have multiple cores enabled. Quote
I.nfraR.ed Posted June 18, 2012 Posted June 18, 2012 Seems all 3 chips mentioned here have weak memory subsystem and odd behavior. But cores clock good after all and that's what matters most and can easily compensate for the low cpu-nb and mem. Quote
BeepBeep2 Posted June 19, 2012 Author Posted June 19, 2012 My CPU has a cold-boot bug at -110 and CB @ -120, and I don't have a torch. Needs HT-Link at ~1000 and weak drive strengths to boot full pot. I know it is IMC related, CPU LED stuck @ under -130, -130 to -110 DRAM LED. What a PITA this has turned out to be, already wasted 1/3 my LN2... Quote

BeepBeep2 Posted June 19, 2012 Author Posted June 19, 2012 (edited) I have a 565 BE here I have never tested cold as a backup. However I know it will be s**t on LN2 already and has a weak cpu-nb. Max CPU-Z on air 4450 MHz too, doesn't like volts. I'm gonna tear down everything in the morning and probably set up for FX. I can't waste time and my 8150 has been proven full pot. Infra, you said your chip works on LN2 with only one core? Edited June 19, 2012 by BeepBeep2 Quote
I.nfraR.ed Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 (edited) I have an 8150, 1090T, 1055T, and two 555BE's that do that If all of them do that, it's most probably the board coldbugging. My Crosshair IV does the same and I think only works full pot with one dimm slot populated. Infra, you said your chip works on LN2 with only one core? Yes, but not sure if the board or the cpu is the problem, however this board has proven stable full pot with my 1090T and old 955 C3. Might be a bios problem, cause it flashed automatically from the backup bios after running full pot for a while. It worked 4 cores no problem with stock hsf afterwards, so I assumed it's the cpu. just_nuke_em Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 (edited) It'd not the board (CHV). Except for the 8150, which I sold right away, all chips experienced similar behavior on 4 other boards (CHIV, CHIII, 790X-UD4P, and M2RSH). While each of those boards have been run all the way cold with no issues. Edited June 19, 2012 by just_nuke_em Quote
