  1. Glad you guys are doing this for the hardware grinders. I didn't like what I saw happening to teams like CP. Thanks Mass and RB. PS. The "category will become void of participants" mentality could easily be applied to the multi -gpu category. I am worried that it is no longer worthwhile to bench a 5970 because the 5870 is worth so much more boints. Your thoughts?
  2. It is very difficult to explain how the scoring system works within the new revision. How do these result's scoring make any sense at all? My teammates are asking me and I have no answers for them. Please explain and rectify this.
  3. All of my other complaints aside, you guys are doing a very ambitious thing with rev3, and should be commended. Quitting benching because of what the bot does or doesn't is senseless. I think those who have voiced concerns over the danger of multi card benching becoming pointless are very valid. The new system will force everyone to flock to where the only meaningful points can be had, ie single card. More points in the multi category will never come. Unfortunately by making the bot more affordable, the shine of the big score is diminished. Team NBOC is very much like team Pure, we are plotting our new course within this new environment.
  4. There you go. I just purchased to DD wb's for my 5970's to break the 40k level in 3dmV. Why should I bother now when my single 5870 with the pot on it yields so many more points? Most of NBOC is on SS or better, but those of us who recently purchased multi-gpus are screwed. Hope you guys see to it to add more global for multicard 3d.
  5. Maybe by using an example, I will get my point thru more effectively. These are actual team members results....talking globally now. Teammate A at NBOC has a Classified with 3x 5870's, a W3570 cpu under SS and has benched for many hours to get the best possible results = 420bts and 19th in the US /rev2 Teammate B at NBOC has a Vanilla X58 with 1x gtx285, a 920 cpu under a chiller and has benched for 1/4 of the hours of mate A to get best possible results =160bts and 55th in the US /rev2 Now overnight Teammate A= 294bts and 37th in US rev/3 Teammate B= 303bts and 35th in US rev/3 This is due mainly to the fact that the hardware used by TM A is multi-GPU (big no no in rev3) and the hardware used by TM B is the most popular. How does this reward the best scores? How does this add incentive to our teammates to keep benching against and with eachother? Oh and the test server was unavailable to most of us until 2 days ago.
  6. Good morning, the new site appearance looks great. Unfortunately thats where the optimistic feelings end with me and a great many of my teammates over at NBOC. Here is a brief list of the downsides to the new Rev3 IMO: 1) What happened to teams and participants like CP is flat out wrong. It would have been better to create a separate league for HW crunchers and let them pound it out amongst themselves than gut their personal and team points under the flag of fairness....during halftime no less. 2) The new point system was sold to us a being more transparent and fair than the previous rev2 system. It is neither IMO. The weight system and unique users makes it impossible to anticipate where we would land with this new revision. The new "fairness" is not IMO as it rewards mediocrity and the average, while adding little or no incentive to go for the best overall score. This feels very much like its not about the competition anymore, its about benching only the most popular hardware and in your words Mass "Go for the mid-popular categories: still fair amount of points and not too difficult to get into top10"....don't you see that your needing to direct people in what hardware to use to get max boints instead of telling them "bench the hell out of the best stuff you can get and see how you measure against the pros", turns hwbot into a "no one fails, everyone who comes thru the door gets points, don't try and be the best, just use what everyone else is using" environment. This revision didn't personally hurt my profile as most of the guys above me took the same hit. What it did is: -remove CP as our main team competition and motivation. -Made it worthless for most of us with Classified SLI XF boards and 1-2x ATI 5970's and/or 3-4x ATI 5870's to bench them anymore for boints. -It made the hardest working/benching members on our team ask why they bothered. -Exalted the lowest members on our teams, by taking from the top and adding it to the bottom. -Window dressed up the league for new participants while really not caring about the guys who have been with you the longest. I don't think that you are purposely doing this to irritate the majority of your participants, as I think that you work hard and have the best intentions for fairness. This new revision though seems to have sorely missed the mark. Sorry about the rant, thanks for caring and for all your hard work....I know you guys will get it right Regards, Rom
