Now, regarding your question. 18 people (not 500) benched a 12900KS (8p category on r20) on ln2 and between your score and #3 there is a gap of almost 100 mhz.
With that in mind, I would say that buying a random 6900XT-XH (less than 1.5k usd) or a 3090/Ti (less than 2.5k usd) would give you more chances to enter the top-3 in 3D than buying 10-15x KS (10~k usd) to enter the top-3 there.
If people don't want to put the effort to bench 3D due to time/difficulty or because it isnt as rewarding as it should have been then that's a different issue/question.

just look at our profiles, I have pretty much every 2d gold and you have some 3d golds and you are ahead. How is that undervalued for 3d?
37 people benched R20 on 8c alder lake ln2 and gold is worth 161pts...3 people benched FS on ln2 and gold is 169pts and as you said its cheaper to just go buy a card right? so its worth more and cheaper with less competition. Maybe I should focus more on 3d haha. I would say that is quite rewarding in every way is it not?
Same story in 11, 2 ln2 results in the top 5 still worth 169 points.
32M WR is 161 points....top 80 subs are ln2...why would anyone pay to bin cpus when 3d is worth this much.

Would you say 3090 benching 3000usd cards is more or less competitive than people benching 500 cpus submissions wise? ?

Some could argue that the rest of 3d is for binned gpu guys only as well though. ? I don't see anyone that buys their own card in the top 5 for current gpu ranks.

No one wants to lose points or to make benches die because they are no longer valuable. But what about people that spend time and money to compete on the top end. When it's too easy to cheat it needs to get removed. I had 01 dual card gold worth 200+ points all it required was a 7ghz cpu and still voted to remove points after spending $750 on 590s.
I think people like to trash ln2 benchers a bit what we call "elite" hate behind closed doors...but I don't see companies sponsoring hwbot comps for ddr1 ddr2 platforms or Intel sponsoring 775 competitions. So ln2 users should have some say I think ?

People worried about it losing points you are free to still enjoy it and bench it. No one is stopping you.
Unfortunately for 01 and 03 with no system info a bad actor aka someone that needs to produce ranking to a sponsor etc can bench not even the same card and make a screen. We would never know. ?
System info alone though is a blessing and a curse. Take 3dmark11 4x r9 295. Turn off system info and gain 3k points and runs smoothly. Turn it on and everything goes to shit. The process to even get the benchmark to run is a joke let alone one that is valid. You have to start the bench and let the driver immediately fail and don't close the error message. Close 11 or system info will stop working and the next run will pass but not be valid. Open a new 11 run the bench hope you don't get a random timer error. Rinse and repeate. This isn't even overclocking at this point imo. So system info is the cancer and the cure.
Idk what the answer is honestly. Maybe one class with high points use as many cards as you want like 32m or 2d? That essentially makes it single card though. Or keep it and reduce the points to a level that won't attract lustful point whores. Maybe a different bench with better card counting abilities?

The problem as well what if the cheater is actually smart. Benching 4x and his say car low is way too high since he's using 1x gpu. Why not down clock the cpu a bit or gpu clock below stock to get the performance drop you want. ? If you are using a bench that doesn't scale with card count this will always be the problem.
@Leeghoofd not sure what you mean by 01 not being cpu bench? That's all it is.

So we cant just require videos for everyone. I for one flat out refuse to do so.
for other benches that we couldn't police effectively we removed.
is there any other ideas besides requiring videos?
Can UL or whoever throw us a bone and make use a systeminfo or something

Reward on the old 3D benches it high right now. With the point shift upwards recently. To keep even sucky overclockers interested to submit scores.
The cost to buy gtx590 and r9 295x2 is $300 each and it has zero resale ability so the cost is not really a great value for me. I could bin 10 12900ks for that loss worst case scenario

And the way the points are alloted you have to bench it. Why work hard on competitive benches ?

just asking then, it is okay to run a single card through the entire bench then enable CFX because you cant detect it right?
For 3 card I can disable CFX and run a 290x on ln2 and then just enable the 295x2 at the end?
I just got 207pts for running 01 on a nearly stock GTX590 and pifast is worth 170 or something seems odd to me. Would you say the points are representative of more competition = more reward? seems not
I think unless it scales then it's pointless. 3d11 sure 3x 4x points go up, 01 03 not so much.
If you keep it it's just worth too much.
Please no one complain when I drop all the golds this week using these "tweaks"
