  1. Team CP in the top 10 and ahead of Massman's team? Must be time for the next algorithm revision to be instituted. :D

Wait till the time limit on points kicks in. You'll be out of the top 20 :D

    • Deluxe series (mainstream feature rich)
    • Essentials series (mainstream budget)
    • L337 series (gaming)
      • Gank series = intel mainstream
        • Machine = mainstream
        • Domination = high-end

        [*]Killsteal series = tbd

        [*]Aggro series = AMD platform

I had too look it up because I thought you were pulling my leg. Can't believe that's real :D

  2. Wprime doesn't get WR points, perhaps we should consider that.

Wprime 1024M makes sense as it'll still scale. The Wprime 32M hasn't been beaten since December 2010, so I'm not sure whether WR points for that one actually makes sense.

Even if only for consistencies sake. Things might change :) People might actually go after it if WR points were there.

Cinebench would be effected in the same way but much worse. How does XTU scale with crazy cores?

  3. These submissions aren't taking overall world records, just a record for that respective core count. PC05 for example, all of the world records are taken with single CPU, 4 core setups, the scores from these big server setups are actually lower.

Overall world records are highly contested, there will be no issue with points there.

I understand that a lot of tweaking and work is needed for these setups to put out a good score, but what setup doesn't need that? I put hours and hours and hours into my setups for single benchmarks, sometimes that doesn't pay off with big points. For me the result itself is the rewarding aspect.

For cinebench and wprime they are getting world records though and we don't see the kind of point boost that 3d benches get for overall WR's, regardless of core/card count.

I want to see these results and want to see people going for them. Probably going to happen a lot less if they are getting Nul points. Going to look pretty funny with a sempron at about 700 seconds in wprime gets awarded ten times the points of the overall world record when it's 20 times slower.

Disappointed Rbuass isn't in this thread, right up his alley.

  4. 1. Members can disclose affiliation

There should be a way to disclose your affiliations. Don't know anything about overclocking and you see AndreYang's profile on HWBot? Awesome results, but no indication that he is any different from anyone else. There should be a place where vendor employees can show who they are - "Asus Employee". Or "Overclockers Admin". Or "HWBot Manager" We list only the person's team currently. There should be a field where users can fill out any industry business relationship, that is displayed on the user's profile.

This would be very nice. Just something like the "team partners" spot on pro cup team pages (which has disappeared, is it coming back? ) would be nice. Selectable on your profile and individual submissions...

  5. I am surprised to hear people suggest that F1 is without limits. F1 racing is most certainly very much limited and regulated. There are regulations as to what may and may not be done to a car, a chassis, an engine, the tyres, the total weight of the care and so on. In fact all motor sports are regulated.

Here is a link to the Technical Regulations just to highlight what I mean.

    http://www.formula1.com/inside_f1/rules_and_regulations/technical_regulations/

Now to take that F1 analogy to the next level when talking about benching and OC'ing one would have to ask why were those regulations brought into play? The answer is two fold. First safety, too fast and people would die. Yes regulators actively try to slow cars down.

The second is economics when you break it down. TV audiences want to see competitive races, they do not want to see a boring procession to the finish line. This was the case a few years ago, numbers started to drop. The revenue generated by the TV rights are what drive the sport onwards, high viewer-ship numbers ensure that value is had by sponsors of the teams. In other words the F1 needed to be competitive to be viable. This they did.

So they change the regulations each season. They add stuff, they limit stuff. The point being F1 is constantly evolving.

OC and Benching needs to be constantly evolving too. So maybe there does need to be discussions about regulating the sport.

Discussions like this are part of the evolution process and very interesting to read. I just wanted to debunk the notion that anything goes in F1. :)

Itttts alive! How are ya big fella?

I thought ES Haswell was going to be allowed in XOC this time also?

Fyi, there are three types of CPUs

    • Engineering sample: testing different variables of the silicon, no product SKU in CPU-Z (like Gulftown A0)
    • Qualification sample: testing the final version of the silicon, carries product SKU in CPU-Z (like all media samples)
    • Retail sample: -duh-

I assume all the question mark Q-SPEC QDxx have "genuine intel" as product name in CPU-Z?

As a sidenote to this, I would like to advocate for allowing qualification samples to be used in all rankings. So, as long as there is a product SKU identifiable in CPUZ the processor sample is allowed in any HWBOT ranking. Anything that just carries the genuine intel naming scheme remains for the pros.
