  1. SirTryAlot -> try to lower CPU Input down to 1,6-1,7 -> 2V whitch i used all the time brings me throtling even on 1.38V with same setup. I posted picture on previous page - 1.53Vcore + 1.7 Input brings you same temperature like 1.36 + 1.99.

XTU can handle it, how about another benchmarks i dont know, motherboard died in sleep mode last night.

    Once and for all.

1.7VccIN is inoperable and 110% inadequate to feed even an overclocked 5820K. Period.

    Lets not mess the voltages.

VccIN has a role, Vcore another.

We shall not reinvent the wheel here, to justify other things...

Minimum VccIN for 6950X running at 4.6ghz, is 2.01V.

    It is math.

It is not theory and BS.

Running UNDER DICE 6950X at 5ghz requires a minimum of 2.05-2.07VccIN, otherwise the chip starves.

Under LN2, both 5960X and 6950X, may require up to 2.2VccIN.

Ask Der8auer, ask Daniel, ask Alex, ask God himself.

Now, for Vcore, well depends on silicon lottery.

Now, repeating again and again that the 6950X...YZKX...what the F*ck it is, manufactured by Nasa especially for PKBO, to run 4.6ghz on ambient water XTU at 4,6ghz with 1.55Volts core, is plain BS. Crap talk.

I am going to eat a snicker.

    @Elkim is right.

Every self respected Overclocker must have a ton of these as backup.

PKBO, man, we did not come to this game yesterday.

With my previous account, I was first rookie, novice, enthusiast and Apprentice with 1234 points and n.37 in the world even without LN2.

And never bended a single rule - EVER.

Keep smiling man, but it is you who has a lot to learn.

    First lesson -

Don't think that others drink donkey milk.

    Carry on lad.

  2. Are you serious? Complaining about it taking a few months to enable an EOL OS on an EOL platform, released over 1.5 years ago? Yeah how many companies are ready to support that?

Anyhow, I tested 3401 on M8I and it works fine with XP :) Try it and report back.

    Usually I am serious.

Being one eyed among the blind, does not help me in any way.

BTW, I do not care about XP. After bios 2202, mem timings on M8I and M8E are off.

If someone wishes to continue using Skylake cpu's, he should stick to 2202.

    Anything newer is a disaster.

    Thank you for understanding Elmor.

  3. Makes me wonder.

Besides Hilderman, who expressed in a simple, yet crystal clear way, his thoughts, NO ONE, none from the top ten enthusiast players has come forward to defend their league ( and the way of cooling ).

    Strange.

" Diamonds and Pearls " exist in the enthusiast league ( submissions wise ).

    A 6950X, ten core cpu, running at 4.6ghz, XTU ( yes XTU ), on ambient water, at 1.55Volts ( yes, 1.55Volts ).

When I simply questioned the fellow member ( no report from my side ), how is this possible, he linked me to a video on YouTube, showing a vague Closed Box PC, under a TV set, in the house, with 25 ambient, and a run on the monitor of XTU.

Asked him how can this be possible and got this answer :

" You still have a lot to learn buddy ".

    Cool.

    Lets carry on.

Still 1985 pages of posts to go, before reaching the inevitable dead end.

  4. Just stumbled on this thread last night.

Read all 14 pages and was reminded of the sour taste this whole ambient debate brought out in me last fall during the MSI Ambient contest.

I spent way to much time at my keyboard trying to get the mods to clear away the grey area to no avail, and in the process forgot the pure enjoyment that benching had brought me in the past. The prizes were big $, based on my budget, but the grey area involved in ambient destroyed the enjoyment and brought out a side of me I didn't like. The result of that debacle was a ruined cpu and a very negative attitude, although I did win an MSI hat, keychain, notebook and an open bench table - (open bench table is great, thank you MSI).

I haven't bothered to compete since, other than the Geekbench memory challenge, which was a lot of fun, and the Country Cup in Dec. Maybe I'm just a whiney, sore loser, and clearly need to eat a few more Snickers.

Whatever the case, that was my experience.

After reading this thread, I'd like to remove myself from the Enthusiast class and challenge any of my "class-mates" to move to Apprentice as well. Perhaps there should be a time limit of some sort to stay in Enthusiast.

Anyways, Websmile, or Christian, what is the process to change to Apprentice, and can anyone recommend a budget friendly pot for purchase? It's time for me to learn about cold.

    Please excuse my lengthy post.

It is a very positive ( sad though ) post, that reflects 110% the anomalies of the Enthusiast league.

  5. SOLD, thanks for the space hwbot,

Sorry George' you were an hour too late, hope your good though bud?

Hey mate, I am trying bud, not so easy at 59. Lol :)

    Best,

    George

  6. I entered hwbot when something like an enthusiast league didn´t exist. Everyone was responsible for his results, they did depend on cooling of course, and up to a certain amount on skills. Now at enthusiast league they mainly depend on how you bend the rules... this problem is not solvable, and for everyone we catch at chilling ten new guys start to do the same. It is tiresome to fight windmills, and this is main reason why I don´t contribute to this thread, it is something you cannot solve at an online league. Imho even the NSA would fail at making this work^^

Thank you Michael for this down to earth approach.

An extremely valuable opinion, to which ALL must give extra weight.

Based on this approach, only one thing remains to be done.

    Reshuffle the deck.

    We can't do that.

The owners/administrators of this site, must sit down and think how to reconstruct the leagues, in order to avoid any further " misunderstandings ".

  7. Friends, I trust Scotty.

    Why ?

    For a zillion reasons.

We ( almost all of us ), say the same thing with small deviations.

The enthusiast league must go down.

    End. Stopped.

The word " ambient " is, by nature, so vague, that the rules imposed in the enthusiast league, are ( and can be ), so bended, that someone either laughs or raises an eyebrow ( to say the least ).

If what Scotty has been saying for years ( one league for Pros and one for the rest ), is not achievable, at least lets merge everything that has to do with water -

AIO, water, custom water, chilled/cold and whatever else exists.

Either if a chiller takes water to -30 or the Siberian nature, we will not have to wonder each time, who cheats and who does not.

    Just my 0.02c :)

  8. -20c in Siberia ( with open windows ) is ambient.

    +40 in Africa is ambient.

Should we ask people living in Arctic regions to raise the temperature to +20 and the people living in extremely hot climates, to install an air-conditioning unit, right above the PC, to reduce temperature to +20 ?

Kind of looking at the glass and wondering if it is half full or half empty.

Too much anxiety for a non-solvable ( technically speaking ) issue.

Even after 2000 posts in this thread, we will be at the same point - 0.

  9. I have same issue from registration till today. Can you fix it for me too? :) thx

    Fixed myself :)

    Here is how :

Open the ( reported ) tab.

You will see a message that there no reported submissions and a string of meaningless

    ( to me ) words.

    Tab "seems" empty.

Scroll down - down and more down.

At some point, there must be one or more submissions that were never reported, but simply

did not go thru, due to some technical bug.

    Delete them.

Here you are without a reported tab.

    Cheers :)
