Another DICE tip I learned a long time ago is to first get your dice as crushed as possible, then after adding to pot, pour in a shot of Acetone and mix till slushy. This type of slushy mix will remove air bubbles and create more surface area for cooling.

For anybody curious, issue was resolved by battery replacement. Values are inline with how they are set in BIOS and no issues with the board at all.
-
Awesome.
Still the 285 thing needs to be explained or changed or something.
Exactly. I understand there are no prizes awarded but it put best foot forward in competition I think is what we are all looking to do. While I know this is not the higher levels for the competition, clarification across all levels needs to happen.

is it ddr3?
Yes.

I assume these questions have already been asked and/or been determined but thought it would be a good idea to try to centralize questions.
Overview says this is to incorporate the iGP of the APUs but when you click on the first stage, it says, "Only make submissions with a 285 videocard."
Is this a Nvidia 285 VGA?
Personally, the confusion goes on to Division IV also where it's stated, "In Challenger Division IV round the hardware is limited to the mainstream APU processors and their integrated graphics cards. The processor choice is limited to the Bulldozer and Piledriver models."
So are you actually talking about APU CPUs with discrete VGAs or CPUs from that architecture you're requesting or what?
What I assume is this has been discussed in the forums and not been brought to clarity on the main page where it should be.
I'm sorry that this may come off kurt, aggressive or what have you but if you are looking to move this into the professional realm, things like this need to be stated clearly.
Personally I could go on but I appreciate what you guys are doing and enjoy the overall idea of what's going on but seems some details are missing.
If I'm out of line and need to be checked because I'm missing something obvious, please tell me and I'll redact/edit anything here.

Idea of chips used on the OCZ Reapers?
-
Looking for a socket 939 motherboard with decent overclocking capabilities, mostly DFI but will most definitely take other offers. AMD FX-5x series CPU alone or combo'd with the motherboard also. Need an AGP VGA, in the range of x800xt, 3850, 4650 or Nvidia high end AGP.
Payment would be pretty much any option you can think: Verified non-CC PayPal, Google Wallet, Dwolla and think I still have Chase and Amazon.
Shipping would be to US zip code 45420

Perhaps he miscalculated the scale.
0.2 is not normal , but 0.02 is.
No, it would be BIOS set 1.9v and when reading from read points shows ~2.1v. Also would climb between readings. So I set 1.85v vDIMM, read 1.9Xv, remove DMM, replace and it would be .001+v with no changes in load or voltage amounts, just a few seconds.
search for a 1.5V battery and/or 9V block and look what your DMM shows...Mine broke a while ago and showed crazy high values as well...
I will check this also. Weird thing is some of the read points were giving values I felt for in normal range.
Granted this is a very low cost, cheap, old DMM. Going to replace battery and check with a battery. No RAM or CPU has died so don't think the board is overvolting. Or they are really strong
-
Been running on X04 BIOS for a couple weeks now and when poking at the voltage read points with my DMM, it's reporting almost 0.2+ over what is set in BIOS on some of the read points. These increase in read outs have been noticed on vDIMM and vCore. Anybody else noticing this or could it be a poor DMM?

Curious of voltage used to reach results with Ripjaws?

Going to register and try my best to schedule a trip out there. Always wanted to check it out at least once.
EDIT:
Should we register as "attendee" or "press/industry analyst?" I know in previous years the way to attend was as press.

Thanks .
I hope it's compatible with elpida hyper ) ,otherwise for me is useless.
Have the board now but haven't played with it in a long time. Remember the last time I used it, I did have a Hyper based kit and it did not like the kit whatsoever. Granted it wasn't with a modded BIOS.

Anybody by chance have one of these laying around that they want to get rid of for the cheap? Know it's a long shot but if they're not on eBay, they have to be somewhere!
-
Yep, found this out on Gene. Was stopping boot after 3 failed loops and once just noticed that it started to boot up while I turned away doing something else. Seems strange but sometimes have patience and give it time.
-
Come on, Christian - based on that logic DICE and LN2 would be in the Enthusiast League... since they do not need a compressor...
You cannot be serious...
-
you can use your old msi stuff to win new msi stuff
socket 775 can reach 12345 in 3dmark06
Good point but I still disagree with how some of these comps are brand limited. Seems backwards marketing as I stated before.
Good luck to everybody able to compete! :celebration:
-
You've got to be joking right?
Clearly he is meaning the branding restrictions. Obviously cuts down on participants if you need BOTH to be MSI branded. Spend $XXX for a shot at a sub $250 board? The idea is good to spread brand recognition but poorly executed. You'd think they'd want people who have older gen hardware to get newer MSI branded hardware from the comp to try to breed brand loyalty.

Yeah, just noticed the same. I am logged in, but the compare says "no scores" although I assume mine should be in there.
Mine never says "score synced" either.
I see a few scores from others. Login didn't seem to take at first but showed after switching windows and coming back.
-
I was able to sign in but not sure how to upload results from phone for compare. "Me" tab just says, "Logged in as filmbot." Though here is screenshot of Nexus 5 score again with the latest link posted. May have a LG G2 result coming also. Results seem consistent but score does continue to go down if I keep running it without closing. Closed as much background services down as possible also.

Nexus 5 results on Android 4.4.2:

It changes the size of the site to fit a little better but it is far from perfect. Impossible to search and some functions just don't work. Again not sure if this is just on phones or tablets also.
EDIT:
And also the score frames are still big and need to be scrolled left and right. I may be off (impossible) in what I'm asking but just wondering.
-
YESSSS please
currently checking scores on my phone is terrible while benching
Absolutely. Can't recall if I've ever checked on a tablet but if it works on a tablet but not phones, is it just as simple as re-sizing frames? Searching also seems to be very difficult via mobile.

Sure it has been brought up and answered but are there any future plans for a fully working mobile site?
If not, why not and what resources are needed?

Challenger 2014- Division V Round 1
in HWBOT Competitions
Posted
Of course we all noticed this but if you click on "Stage 1," one of the requirements says, "Only make submissions with a 285 video card."
Obviously this can be looked at as an easy mistake for whatever reason but then looking at Division 4 the requirements are just as murky as the language you posted.
"In Challenger Division IV round the hardware is limited to the mainstream APU processors and their integrated graphics cards. The processor choice is limited to the Bulldozer and Piledriver models. The graphics card choice is limited to the GeForce GTX 780, GTX 780 TI, GTX 980 and the Radeon R9 290X."
