you gave me something to look forward to Massman:) (i should get my new ss from dimastech next week, as my cooler express died:( with this method I get the windows loading screen to freeze up from 52x upwords but to 54x i can just reset with the button, with 55x and higher i have to power down. Thats with the MSI gd65 8d -
Testing MSI X79A-GD65 (8D)
Khalam replied to Massman's topic in Sandy Bridge-E / Ivy Bridge (X79) OC
im getting huge instability with anything over 100 bclk.... this chip must be made from silicon scraps... anyhow its vantage stable at 5ghz but requires silly volts (1.645v). There is a sudden leap in volts. it can work at 4.6ghz at 1.35v but to be stable at 4.8ghz it already wants 1.525v. Yesterday i was ment to try it out under ss but my unit decided to die on me:( -

its an MSI GD65 8D (thanks to your thread about the board ive managed to get it to 5ghz a few minutes ago:) temp wise im getting 22-25 idle and 63-69 load. I have to figure out how to mount my ss on this board so I can try what will this chip do under sub zero.... still a terrible chip that requires 1.625v for 5 ghz.... -
