  1. This is a very old case. Carl used it a year ago: http://hwbot.org/submission/2197835_turrican_ucbench_2011_athlon_xp_1800_thoroughbred_60.9_mpt_score after he saw GENiEBEN using it. If you check the rankings: http://hwbot.org/benchmark/ucbench_2011/rankings?hardwareTypeId=processor_221#start=0#interval=20 you can see that it gives up to 30% performance. Same way as wPrime sometimes.

What I usually don't get is why people start asking this long after the case appeared. Either everybody is slow to ask the crew before or they just know how slow the crew is so why bother? :D

I remember the codec rule update for PCMark being added only after 1-2 years after I've asked.

Pretty suspicious but such discussions mostly appear during Competitions and are rare for usual submissions.

  2. There's no such component as "wordpad engine" in exact. You just didn't follow the idea of CherV. What she was trying to tell is that despite FMpad being a different exe file from wordpad, it does use the same engine - what's behind the .exe which is only a GUI.

Pretty much like iexplore.exe is not the whole IE and not even the most part of it (surprise? :D ). But setting that are altered in Wordpad do change the wordpad backbone/engine settings meaning they do alter the settings at which FMpad runs the test.

She gives you food. Don't make her picking up the fork pinching the food and put it in your mouth - at least make some efforts. Or we're gonna end whining until you get a "Tweak PCMark05" button? :D

Didn't check the tweak yet - I don't use Win7 regularly so it's just my guess.

  3. Thanks for sharing, CherV!

The most I've got through was finding reference of MS Sans Serif in FMpad.exe and deleting it from the OS. Now half OS goes with no text at my work. Might even not reboot so it's two weeks powered-up. :D

Anyway I wanted to reinstall it.

  4. xXSebaSXx, did you see the video that Tweak-venetica provided? I was talking about his suggestion. That doing so we get pixel performance crippled compared to the sweet point.

I've got a shift from 9xx to 1400 on 8800GTS 512. :D so I do know how to do this.

  5. Did you ever tested updated edition of DLL files ? :)
I did. They do add much performance but are clearly restricted by the rules. I was testing this back in the days when rules weren't that clear about modifying the files.

pro, do I understand correctly that in your TW you have only the windows titles flying around? Is such stuff allowed?

  6. The logo replacement is one of the easiest and brick chances are lowest (I don't know any). But SoF used an older 3.12 version of MMTool. I use 3.22 for AMI8.

Checked what SoF has done - looks fine. But when I opened his first picture version and clicked "Save for Web" in PS it made the file 22KB while his second was 29KB. Anyway it's nothing, nice work!

The AMI logo (that's the same place Award EPA logo is) can be replaced too but it's harder to make a replacement logo (that odd format doesn't give much freedom for design).

So this Massman Edition BIOS is a present for Massman? :D

  7. Can't get the file copy method working. I can either start to copy it before running PCMark - that way PCMark halts and can't run till the copy ends. Or I can run it right after running PCMark - that way 50% is that the bench halts like described above. And then I get over 250MB/s. Or copy runs during test and I get about 32MB/s :D

The less files I take the more frequently the copy ends before the test runs (halting it).

    Now where's that IOmeter? :)
