  1. n would only affect the team overall competition, 10 members still needed for single rankings.
  2. No no...we are talking about the overall competition for the teams only. The score would be computed by adding together the boints from the top n overall benchers of the team (or less if the team doesn't have that many members). So as long as the team has a single member with boints, it will get an overall score.
  3. n will be pretty large...100 or so. If sb doesn't belong to the top n overall of his team, it should only motivate to try to get there. With the 1) change, 2) becomes a must as otherwise the big team bias gets a lot worse than it is now.
  4. I designed the current algorithm and there is a revision coming for it. An initial representation should be ready pretty soon, but the final implementation will have to wait until rb comes back from Australia. I would sincerely hope you will wait for my suggestion before speculating much further. I would agree with many of Predator's comments above. However as comes to the OP, i think it's better that the boints originate from one source only. It's easier to get the big picture and maintain the balance that way. The new algorithm suggestion will have the following main changes: 1) boints will be awarded to a larger group, both globally and in hw categories. From 150/5 positions getting boints we might well go to a situation where all positions get at least a little, both in global and hw categories. 2) Total team score comes only from n top benchers of the team. 3) Small adjustments to the awarded boint levels...only small. From the above changes, 1) makes the system nicer for beginning benchers and encourages trying. 2) removes 'the big team bias' the current algorithm has been accused for. However, n will be considerably larger than 10. I'll make a thread here on the coming changes in a few weeks and ask about opinions especially on 3).
  5. Looks like we have five 1hp rotary units (pic below) and one cascade ordered from LittleDevil so far. Should have some effect on our boints eventually.
  6. The following thread had sunk, stickied now: http://www.hwbot.org/forums/viewtopic.php?id=108 Subteams can either submit the scores for one member or make an account for the subteam. One example for the latter is TeamSkootterit under OCTF: http://www.hwbot.org/user.do?userId=5845
  7. http://www.hwbot.org/user.do?userId=4847 There could be some nice new scores coming soon.

  9. hmm...ok so this would be for hw categories. Could be nice i guess. Adding different rules for different hw (like for gf1 as above) would make things unnecessary complicated.
  10. So giving even more boints for people that have the first place in four or more rankings?? I guess this would only apply to OPB atm, and he already has almost twice as many boints as the second. I don't see how this would motivate others.
  11. I don't think anybody outside hwbot crew and the wPrime developper should have this version atm.
  12. The global boints are based on the global rankings and one can only have a single position in those rankings. So to get it wrong you would have had to do some serious extra work hehe. I kinda agree that 20 boints max could be ok. But it could also lead to some top clockers to milk these "secondary" hw categories. Like owning 7900GT and 7900GT SLI categories would give almost 200 boints, then doing the same for 6600GT and so on... I suggest that we think long and hard about needed changes to the boints definitions and release version 2 of the definitions some day. One thing i would like to change is giving a much longer or infinite tail part for the global boints awarding so that users would always get at least a tiny amount of boints for every ranking where they have results. And also changing the hardware boints to work the same way so that every submission for a new hw category would give at least sth.
  13. What?? You did it right and that's the only reasonable way to do it. I was just trying to remind this for STEvil and Maxi since i have a hunch they may not know it.
  14. To get hw boints one has to get to the top5 in that hw category. hw boints are also weighted by the popularity of the category, so benching with some very exotic hw gives max 2 boints per ranking. Also please notice that global ranking boints are only awarded once per user. E.g. if the user breaks his old X1900 scores with 8800GTX scores, the boints for for the X1900 scores usually get lower as the global ranking portions of them are taken away. imho there is plenty of merit in getting big hw boints.
  15. In principle this would be easy to implement, just adding the global ranking boints and leaving hw boints out. It would be interesting imo too, especially comparing the resulting ranking with the original. However, having many kinds of rankings would make things more complicated for the users and distract interest from the main ranking.
  16. Please do not submit results yet. wPrime will have a 'hwbot gui' and we are still testing it. We are periodically removing all results now. Sorry for the confusion.
  17. You have a higher score with another card. Global ranking points are given only once per user of course.
  18. Yeah, let's hope this goes high in rb's long 2do list.
  19. All his 06 scores are blocked now.
  20. So why don't you want the overall boints list too? I think it would be easy to add with the others.
  21. You have multiple submissions of those results: http://www.hwbot.org/user.do?userId=5625&filter=false The profile should show the results with boints, i'll ask rb to fix this.
