  1. To get 38x ratio in XP: - use one module per core - set bclk < 110 MHz - set cpu ratio = auto - set APM = auto - set CPB = auto - set TDP = auto Good luck!
  2. No more LN2 (+ I need to tune in the timings and use waza)
  3. List is getting longer *** checking flight tickets again ***
  4. G.SKILL BBSE (if I remember correctly). It's 2x2GB DDR3-2133C8 Blue Ripjaws. Should still be 11sec slower than @Flank3r's run on Win7. I really feel the tech press is selling Excavator short. Looking at the performance of an (extremely) gimped part, I'd say 15h Gen4 is pretty fast compared to the sadness that was 15h Gen1. Below a 27.92sec PiFast at 4.3G with 1.6G NB and DDR3-2220C7, un-optimized. It's by far the fastest 15h iteration. 27.92 - 15h Gen4 (Excavator), 4.3/1.6/2200C7 29.52 - 15h Gen3 (Steamroller), 4.5/1.9/1660C9 29.78 - 15h Gen2 (Piledriver), 4.6/2.4/2400C10 31.39 - 15h Gen1 (Bulldozer), 4.9/2.4/1600C6 Not entirely directly comparable, but interesting nonetheless. I'm considering putting the FX-8350 back on the test bench to do a direct clock-per-clock comparison. IIRC, NB and memory had a huge performance impact on PD.
  5. Ideally this would be an unlocked part so we can configure all P-states to any ratio . Second ideal would be to force Pb0 state. Third ideal would be the ability to disable TDP checking. Fourth ideal would be to configure max TDP high enough for Pb0 to always be active. Currently we cannot force Pb0 in XP, but there are ways of getting there to get it sorted for Pi benching. This still is a locked part :-/
  6. There's quite a bit of juice left in the trunk. Reminds me of Kabini - everything helps to boost PI
  7. Forget about what I just wrote. Disable two cores and 38x is active even in idle
  8. D18F4x15C [31:31] = 0 [4:2] = 2 D18F4x16C [3:3] = 1 (TdpLimitDis)
  9. I think sampling is done differently nowadays. Haven't really seen any in-depth overclocking articles either in spite of the 2.1Ghz "rumored" overclocking created quite the buzz online. There are no scores up on 3DMark either ... It seems like Nvidia wants to make sure they're able to launch the GPU at their schedule rather than having AIB blow the whistle. Press event was on May 6th, Press NDA on May 17th and shipments start from May 29th. This opposed to launch PR and availability at the same time.
  10. 38x ratio is indeed working in XP, however it can't be forced and it seems to be not always kicking in at high voltages/bclk/oc (not sure what). In idle it will stick to 35x, so the boost kicks in after the process has started. This isn't going to be an easy ride ... @The Stilt, are you up for some testing with Carrizo? I'm totally up for shipping some parts if needed.
  11. I don't think we should ask for a fix unless there's absolutely no way we can make it work ourselves haha
  12. From what I see, the issue is that in XP the CPU is stuck in P2 state and there is no ACPI support to enable turbo mode. I checked with AmdMsrTweaker, which has 15h family support, and confirmed the max available ratio is in fact 38x. However, Turbo mode is disabled. Elmor's am3_pcratio tool also indicates that the 38x ratio is available in XP ... just not configurable for P2 state. So, all I need to figure out is how to get RWeverything working on my XP install and how to switch P-states. FYI, here is AMD's tech documentation for those who are interested in going hardcore: http://support.amd.com/TechDocs/50742_15h_Models_60h-6Fh_BKDG.pdf
  13. Yeah, that seems to be the main challenge right now. Can't get turbo ratio enabled in XP
  14. @websmile highlighted the issue to me. Should be fixed now
  15. I think it was Mushkin Redline PC3-15000, but not sure
  16. Doing a "history project" ... does anyone know which memory was used for this run?
