  1. You dont really need an ultra.

There are other ways to hit the target.

So if the price gets high , just drop it.

not sure what you meen now? the ultra should have faster memory ICs alowing higher frequency atleast or maybe thats not relevant due to bad scaling?

Only checked my vanta card but assume all tnt cards takes memory voltage from the agp port as 3.3v making it a hassle to increase Vmem, Vgpu should be easy on this old cards tho.

  2. What's the code issue?

I'll send an email to our partners to see if anyone's interested in putting up some prizes. Can't promise anything though ... Riva TNT and PCMark04 isn't particularly sexy these days :D

Dont get me wrong but I got really excited when I finaly found a tnt2 Ultra in a bundle with other useless GPUs yesterday! Hope the price stays realistic :D

  3. Same here, no idea why everything Slot A is so expensive... hard to justify paying $200 for a motherboard that old. Can you just jam the CPU into a Slot 1 board???

Nope think they fit physical but not electrical so to say. And woot! $200 for a motherboard, Think I gave like $1 for the MSI 6195 I got but killed my CPU so waiting for a new one that hopefully arives in time.

  4. It has an anti-aussie bot, which took ages to develop. So we are obliged to keep it as long as you guys participate :nana:

All jokes aside, is that above picture a good thing to integrate in the rules per stage plus an example of a valid screenshot? Leaves no room for debate does it?

that would be great. if it makes things clearer and reduce the amount of drama im all in.

  5. Next time we need to add to the rules what is needed for verification purposes... this chit chat is too much too drama...

I'll try to work on a permanent fix with the two uber lords of HWBot for the next competition...

i know how hard it is to think about anything when you make the rules as everything is so obviose when you have been thinking and working on it for a while. if nothing else the rules gets beter for next year now that you guys know what have been unclear and coused problems this time.

  6. I have a question about rules of this competition.

I've started participating this competition as enthusiast, and submitted all stages in 2-4 core categories except #6. Country Cup made me join extreme league, and I cannot submit score in last stage now. Is it possible to add these subs manually, or the train is gone & I won't have a right to participate in lucky draw?

    http://hwbot.org/submission/3070255_stingeryar_geekbench3___multi_core_core_i5_2400_7065_points?recalculate=true

    Thanks!

interesting question. I stayed enthusiast during country cup couse of last stage in this comp being after CC ended but might have been unnecessary?

looking forward to an answear for future competitions :)

  7. Thanks for the feedback everyone. This week I will try to run another Adjustment test with:

    • keep the less steep slope for globals
    • keep reduced threshold for globals
    • not increase the maximum points for globals*
    • improve slope for hardware
    • reduce threshold for hardware

(*): it is inevitable that the the global points contributing to your total will increase if we make the point slope less steep and reduce the threshold as both actions increase the points for positions below 10 by quite a lot.

i think this looks beter but to counter your * that everyone gets more oc points you might want to look into is to run a test where you reduce the maxium global points to for example 100 points aswell.

  8. Integrated is integrated. It was not specified as onboard or on die. Therefore IMO, ALL iGPU subs should have the stated proof in the screenies.

Integrated is integrated insnt really true as a lot have happend over the years. On the older motherboards like socket 775 the iGPU was part of the motherboard and the reason to show the motherboard tab is obvious.

On a modern system (read a system that can run firestrike with the iGPU) the motherboard doesnt mater more then in a normal firestrike submission as the iGPU comes with the CPU and therefor depends on what CPU you use and not on the motherboard.

Yes, I see that I dont have the motherboard tab open in my submission and that is becouse I dont see it needed in the rules as the iGPU isnt integrated in the motherboard and I dont seem to be the only one. Check the winner from teamcup for example.

  9. I have this board on my desk. This round capacitor has no markings, and the smaller one is a capacitor too (on my board it's brown). I'll check in the evening what my DMM will show, but probably they're connected in series/parallel with something else and without unsoldering it'd be impossible to check their capacity.

EDIT: Bigger element is not a capacitor, at least my DMM shows no capacity. Smaller SMD capacitor is connected with something else, because when measuring capacity my DMM goes above range (maximum is 6mF). You could replace this one with something with similar size, they have usually similar capacity too (if I remember correctly it'd be 3-30 uF for this size).

EDIT2: Bigger element is a quartz, bo no info about it's frequency, also I don't know how to measure this thing. They seem to have 32.768KHz, but they may have different capacities.

Thanks a lot, that info about the bigger component helps a lot as I know that I can probably just take one from another motherboard then and it should be the same :)

And about the small one, if you say its a caps, instead of a resistor like I though from the color on the picture thats also good as it means that I can just plunder a cap with similar size from another board and hope for the best. Really appreciate the help!

  10. I think the idea to increase the points for people that didnt place first is good and I think the idea to decrease the cap for how many submissions before the global reach the maximum is good BUT Id go the other way and reduce the maximum globabal possible to 100 points instead of increasing it too 200 points.

Then Id also add the new way of calculating points to HW points (stay with 50 as maximum), for really.. HW points are where it is, Globals shows that you spend alot on binning the latest CPU.

Just look at the 900 series for example, 980ti gets all the globals but so few bench it compared to for example 970 that it hardly gives any HW points atm.

  11. Oggy_Dz2 , lanbonden and Kvekan_SWE have wrong screenshoots . These are just a little bit to much off . Less issued submissions have been banned from country cup . I think these 3 should be checked

CPUz says they used 2600K but 3dmark06 shows they used pentium III xeon

    http://hwbot.org/submission/3067656

    http://hwbot.org/submission/3067936

    http://hwbot.org/submission/3068215

i think you guys should check those submissions .

We couldnt figure out why it was happening back when we gathered so decided to just ignore it and bench as there are more 2600k with P67 motherboards runing windows XP in the database that shows up as a Pentium 3 Xeon which it totaly cant be looking at the score and just the combination of PCIe GPUs and a pentium 3.

First example I found here but I know there was more.

    http://hwbot.org/submission/2365603_delly_3dmark06_geforce_gtx_titan_43649_marks

I hope its not a problem as CPUz is there to show the CPU as its more trustworthy then 3dmark06.

Im a bit currious on what you would say about a sumbisson that said N/A instead of Pentium3 like in your team mates case?

    http://hwbot.org/submission/3053853

No I dont want to bash any of the submissions I linked, just used them as example that you cant trust what 3dmark06 showes and that there is a reason we have to use GPUz + CPUz aswell in the screenshoots.
