I have a 60gb Vertex 2 drive, bought used and i used it for a couple of weeks for my bench table. Then it wasnt recognised anymore, tried 3 systems and nothing.

Than I opened the drive up, and some kind of known smell of burnt electronics got in my nose. There is a burnt chip, on the chip there is U8AP 608 . Can i replace this chip, where could i buy it? Google gives me nothing. I can get a picture if that will help in any way.
